We were very pleased with our recent 4 night stay at Anchor Cottage, Dartmouth. It had everything we needed, and a lovely touch providing complimentary fudge and soft drink to welcome us. The cottage was nicely decorated and an attractive modern kitchen. The location is perfect and just a few minutes walk from the river front. We would definitely book again.
Our family (comprising of three almost grown up children 16 - 21 yrs) couldn't fault this property. We loved our stay. It was perfect for our spaniel with lots of private lawn, creek and pond to run about in, the house was spacious and extremely well thought out in terms of design and feel. Great for cooking and using the BBQ, also for relaxing and hanging out. It was the perfect base to explore the beautiful surrounding area with great walks and trips. We can't recommend this property enough - our only hesitation is that if we do it'll get too popular! Big thank you to our hosts Bob and...more
Very clean and comfortable. Quality appliances and kitchen equipment. Great to have a bathroom in all the bedrooms. Good outdoor space, just wish we had the weather to enjoy it! Short walking distance to the town centre, pubs, restaurants etc. On street parking is limited next to the property, we managed to park on the Embankment all day as no parking restrictions in November. But I imagine that's an issue anywhere in Dartmouth.
Really comfortable apartment for a family and perfect location. Only issue we had was that the company would not provide us with a code to access the front door despite repeated requests (we had a spare key which we assumed was the front door but couldn’t get in the building) We therefore had to walk around the block which was not well lit, to go in the back door. To not have access to both exit/entrances was not what we expected or safe.
This was our second stay at Ritson Farm. Walking back through the door was a joy, especially when greeted with fresh flowers, eggs and a basket of home grown fruit and vegetables. The large kitchen-diner is perfect for a big family group, although you do have to be comfortable cooking on a Rayburn. Bedrooms are very well appointed and comfortable, and the large lounge with a selection of comfy chairs and sofas is fantastic. Added this year was a garden room in place of the old conservatory and this was a lovely improvement, with views over the flower-filled garden. But my favourite thing about...more
My wife and I were impressed with the cleanliness and quality of the fixtures and fittings. Middle Cottage is ideal for a get away from it all holiday. Dart Valley Cottages were efficient and communicated well. I would certainly recommend and rebook with them.
This property was very clean, comfortable and in good location, with great views. Near parking and local pubs.
Great location, comfy and nicely furnished. Quiet but a short level walk to the waterfront, cafes, shops and restaurants. Perfect little bolt hole for a couple or single, with the valuable benefit of its own on-site parking.
Cannot rate this property high enough. The property was first class ‘chic’. Equipped with everything you would need, home from home. The properties location couldn’t have been better for accessibility to everything Dartmouth had to offer. With the added facility to park you car. Excellent in every way.
Unfortunately the apartment hadn’t been prepared for our arrival but after a phone call the problem was resolved quickly. It’s a great location and a spacious accommodation. It lacked glass flutes for our champagne toast at midnight
Great cottage in a lovely little village. He most stunning view from the garden and the top floor windows. Easy pretty walks down to the River Dart. Ease of access to the Ferry for water trips to the other side or Dartmouth. Doggie loved it too. The road in and out of Dittisham is single track in parts so just have to be cautious when driving.
Comfortable house with great views of the river, you just have to be prepared for the steps to get into town.
We stayed for a few days over my birthday and had a lovely break. The house was just like the photos and had stunning views. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Devon. Our only feedback was the 10am checkout time felt a little early. The standard 11am time would’ve provided for a more relaxing end to our holiday.
Comfortable and well appointed property in a great location. Easy access to town facilities and some of the areas tourist attractions either on foot, by boat or by train. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
A perfect cottage in a wonderful location. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We look forward to returning soon.
The accommodation is comfortable and set in a very convenient location to explore South Down. Dittisham is a charming village.
Crooks cottage is a lovely Cosy cottage just seconds from beautiful Dittisham waterfront, with stunning views of the water from the garden terrace. The cottage had everything needed for a comfortable stay and the bed linen was superb quality! Only thing to consider is if you are tall (I’m 5 ‘ 9) you will find some of the doorways very low- I did bang my head on several occasions when I forgot to ‘duck’!
Great location. Parking not an issue as public car park just a few minutes walk away and permit is provided. 2 flights of steep stairs to the bedrooms so anyone with mobility issues would struggle. Bed is slightly too large for the room as you need to duck to avoid the eaves, but once there very comfy. Great shower. Sitting room very spacious and light. Only real gripe is the state of the courtyard, it really needs some time spent on improving.
We visited for new year and felt at home as soon as we arrived. Lovely and clean all the expected amenities and comfy sofas. We brought some logs with us and used the wood burner which made it lovely and cosy. Very close to the harbour. The steps outside were not a problem and short walk to the car park, however it was difficult to get a space as was busy. Definitely recommend for a relaxing break.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work after all our efforts to fix it, I even reset it back to factory which should have reinstated the original password.. However, this didn’t spoil the holiday, but turned out to be the least of the problems. The downstairs bedroom remained musty as the radiator didn’t work at all, I tried bleeding it, and put the stat up to max, but still nothing. This will have contributed to the damp musty smell, that caused our friends wife to use one of the singles upstairs. Worst problem and really unacceptable was the shower. The upstairs one only works for a minute before ...more
A lovely cottage in a great location. Very comfortable and well appointed inside with the added bonus of parking (which can be an issue in Dittisham). Very handy for the pub, shop, post office in the Red Lion. One or two issues with the television in that we were unable to access Netflix, Iplayer etc. as advertised. Also one of the chairs in the living room had obviously been favoured by a dog in the past and could do with some deep cleaning. However these small issues didn't spoil our holiday in this lovely place.
Great place to stay Good parking spaces ,clean up to date inside everything you need . No salt and pepper, bin bags or tablets for dish washer . Apart from that excellent!! We will stay again next autumn
3 Bell Court was spacious, comfortable & well equipped. We had some concerns that being in central Dartmouth it may be noisy, but this wasn't the case. It proved to be in a quiet backwater, yet close to all amenities. A minor problem with the cooker was quickly resolved by Dart Valley Cottages & we'd definitively consider staying there again.
Dittisham is a lovely village with lots going on.we’ve been coming her for nearly 30 years and Damson cottage didn’t disappoint. Perfect for the four of us and the dog. Well appointed and clean. It did help that the weather was amazing this week!
Perfect four bedroomed cottage for four mates on a golf trip couple of smashing pubs in walking distance or another just a couple of miles away lovely friendly people
Outstanding views , well equipped house , situated up a very narrow steep hill you need to be fit, we had a very good stay, a downstairs cloakroom would be a good addition
Close to awesome pub, cafe and well stocked shop. A short drive to 4 super beaches - Lannacombe, Mattiscombe, Gara Rock and East Portlemouth (which has a foot ferry to Salcombe). Millbrook Inn at South Pool is also close and recommended.
Friendly, clean and comfortable place to stay with fantastic views and near plenty of places to enjoy.
We stayed here last year and we’re very happy so decided to book again for this year. We were disappointed from the onset when we arrived at 3 to find our villa not cleaned. We had got check in time wrong but we didn’t leave property until 3.25 after phoning dart valley and cleaners still weren’t there!!! How they thought they could efficiently and thoroughly clean a 3 story properly in half hour I don’t know! We had booked our food delivery for 4-5 and so we came back for 4pm when the food order came but cleaners STILL not finished. We were emptying food onto wet floors around cleaners…..ha...more
The location of the house is great with fabulous views of the harbour. The drive is extremely steep and hard to get in and out of especially with cars park opposite along the road. The road has lots of potholes but is a quiet location. We would walk into town and get the bus back which ran every half an hour which was great. The house itself needs a bit of TLC. The kitchen and balcony are lovely along with the bathroom. The rest of the house is looking quite tired, there are very few pictures around and the ones that are on the walls are all in odd places! The double aspect in living ...more
Great location peaceful and beautiful place and a cosy cottage ideal for a short break and plenty of walks.
Lovely apartment, in good position, minutes walk from the river and Bayards Cove. Plenty of lovely shops and eating places close by too and a lovely 5 minute walk into the town.
Very beautiful location Very clean Great facilities Good shower Nice to have a log burner Excellent all round
Thanks for my recent stay in Gull's Nest. All went very smoothly and the cottage is very well organised and comfortable. Someone had very kindly put up Christmas decorations and left some mulled wine and mince pies which I really appreciated. Just a couple of things. It would be good to have an extra duvet or heavy blanket. I was actually fine as I was there on my own so I just folded the double duvet in half to get two layers. But for two people in winter they may have been cold. Also your directions for getting there for car drivers seemed very good. I however came on public trans...more
We loved the house and garden with their magnificent views, and being able reach to the river along a short path at the bottom of the garden (we brought a paddleboard which could be launched there close to high tide). Also being so close to the centre of Dittisham, with its pubs and village shop that stocks local produce. As other reviewers have said, the house itself was a little faded, but that didn't get in the way of our enjoyment. So much to do in the area along the river and by the seaside, and fun to be able to get around by boat - but also a pleasure to spend time in the comfortable ho...more
Our second stay at this beautiful property. Couldn’t ask for the wrong thing. Perfect location near to town, a parking permit which many don’t offer, spotless, beautifully appointed. I would say this is the best holiday home we have ever stayed in. We hope to return. Thank you!
Many thanks for a lovely stay! Please make it more clear regarding recycling and rubbish disposal. Not obvious where to take items
Overall we enjoyed our short stay at this delighted cottage. Lovely efficient company to rent from. It would have been good to have been warned how steep the roads to were with a 1 in 3 gradient on extremely narrow roads. It was very unfortunate that the people next door had a massive loud party in the evening making it impossible to sleep until midnight when they finally turned the music down. We had come to attend a funeral so it didn’t help our mood. But beautiful views from most of the windows. Also it was a bit cold in the evenings, the heating was either too low or not on for long enough...more
Lovely few days in a favourite part of the world Excellent little cottage, clean and tidy BUT couldn't find a teapot or cafetiere! One small but important omission......although your manual lists a vet there is no listing for local Taxis, Dr surgery, Medical centre or hospital. ( Even The Anchor Cafe has a list of Taxis!) Unfortunately i needed these as a small puncture wound from barbed wire wouldn't stop bleeding
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would go back. It was very well equipped but would have liked the provision of a DVD player, some kindling and firelighters but overall it was fantastic, especially the views. The house is central to the town so no need to use a car if you're staying local.
It was our first time visiting Devon and we fell in love with Dittisham. Perfect for the dog and our baby. The village is amazingly quiet and peaceful. The cottage was exactly what we needed, a lovely space. Dart valley cottages went above and beyond for our needs and we felt very welcomed. The relaxing break we needed. The cottage is dated in places but was nice and clean throughout. We will definitely be considering staying here again in the future.
We had a very enjoyable stay in the The Nook cottage, which had the added benefit of off road parking and a very sunny garden. Only negatives to stop us gaving a 5 star rating was the extractor fan in bathroom did not work, also huge build of dust on bathroom lights. The internet was always droping out even when close to router. We arrived with the washing up liquid empty. We would still recommend the cottage and will book again. Martyn
Brilliant house and location. Great customer service from the Dart Valley Cottages team too. Would recommend.
The accommodation at Heron Reach was fine and there was everything we needed for our stay. I imagine the small fridge wouldn’t be enough for four people though.
We stayed at Fairfax Place for New Year (3 nights). We enjoyed our stay in this central Dartmouth apartment, well decorated and in the main well equipped. Guest should be aware that there are 30 stairs up to the apartment, something that should be mentioned in the description. The heating was off when we arrived. Whilst the heat easy to operate the apartment had obviously been empty before our stay so condensation was an issue on all of the windows for the whole of our stay. Non of the windows open, & therefore we had no view. Kitchen very well equipped with appliances but only very basic...more
A lovely property in an absolutely fantastic location. Overall it is a fantastic house with plenty of space for a large family and an absolutely wonderful location. For the price it feels a little tired some of the fixtures and fittings and furniture feels rather like it could be due an update. The kitchen could be good but the things provided are a bit of a random selection so can be difficult to cook a full meal for a large family and only enough mugs for one cup of tea each.
We recently stayed in 2 Dartview apartment in September 2023. The overall decor' is quite pleasant with a lovely river view from the lounge window. However, our stay was spoiled by the excess damp feeling in the main bedroom and wardrobe. It was so bad that we had to move our clothes into the smaller 2nd bedroom wardrobe to avoid any lasting damage to our clothes. On investigation, later in the week, we discovered the soaking wet carpet under the bed, which appeared to come from an overflowing, makeshift de-humidifier, which was obviously very ineffective. On looking at the reviews in the gu...more
A superb location and a comfortable cottage with all facilities. A really enjoyable stay . Car parking facilities are excellent .
A really nice property in a fab location. Lots of stairs/steps so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The property was clean and well equipped...some basic kitchen items such as kitchen roll, salt and pepper, foil, oil would have been useful (most self catering places have these nowadays). There is a lot of space, so it would be suitable for 3 couples easily, which makes it good value. Overall we would recommend this property
Stylish and comfortable cottage in an stunning, idyllic location in rural Devon. Attention to detail throughout and very well equipped. There are beautiful river / creek views. Some of the driving in the local lanes is only for the brave hearted - be prepared to reverse back to passing places to let other drivers past. It's not a problem - but good to be aware of it if you are not a confident reverser.
It was a lovely little cottage. Unfortunately before we arrived the weather had been extremely hot and we understand the cottage had been unoccupied the previous week. We noticed an overpowering musty/damp smell on the day we arrived. We contacted customer services on the Sunday and they responded immediately suggesting we leave the upstairs windows open which we did the smell improved but didn’t go entirely. Good location, very comfortable great customer service team. We would stay there again but would want to know the cottage had been aired beforehand.
The cottage is ideal for 2 people, we really enjoyed our 4 night stay. BUT ... We were looking forward to a rest after a difficult 18 months, but we were woken before 6am on all four mornings by the very noisy boiler. After the second morning's early waking we contacted Dart Valley Cottages (DVC) and were told there were instructions in the hall with a Honeywell control unit for the boiler. There was neither. By 6pm that evening, after a few emails and phone calls, we were eventually believed and it was apparent that the Honeywell unit (which we eventually found on the floor of the boiler r...more
Lovely apartment. Very clean with great facilities. Bang in the centre of Dartmouth. Excellent for accessing all the shops, bars and restaurants. Only one slight downside and that is the lack of parking. Very limited parking in Dartmouth and this was in the off season. Still, a highly recommended apartment.
Had a lovely stay in holly cottage, booked last minute, very helpful staff at bookings office, holly cottage perfect for pub and river will be back , Keith and Natalie
We think the house when it was originally refurbished was to a good standard. Unfortunately there are now a number of issues which need maintenance to bring it back to that condition. Dart Valley Cottages and the owners have a list of the items needing attention. The information about the second floor balcony was very puzzling as to how it operated (no instructions) and did not appear safe to deploy.
We arrived after a long journey ,to a cottage that hadn't been cleaned!! It was awful! Contacted Dartvalley and I was informed the cleaning team must have missed it. Cleaners then arrived an hour later. But it meant instead of starting to cook the dinner we had to go out to eat as I couldn't cook while they were cleaning! Unfortunately the hairdryer also overheated and sparked and when I went to iron shirts for the funeral we were down for I couldn't as no ironing board cover! Was just about to leave for the funeral when we were informed by a gentleman at my door from Devon water that our...more
The view was fantastic. However, we arrived just after the stated time to find the cleaners still there manically cleaning. Not their fault, as it seems the previous occupants had left it in a state. (We had this happen at our previous Dart Valley cottage stay). We had to clean plates and cutlery again as they were dirty - again not the cleaners fault. One error is there was a real lack of storage for clothes. In the main bedroom, yes there was a wardrobe but there was ample rooms under the bed for there to be storage boxes available for our clothes. The 2nd bedroom had zero storage for cl...more
Arrived to find only two towel sets and bedding for three adults. Contact was through call Centre to pass messages on. Was told we should have advised them that we would not be sharing a double bed. No mention of this in booking details. We were emailed to say spare bedding and towel would not arrive until following day. This never happened. Turned up two days late. TV needed proper instructions and new batteries on remotes to operate. Smoke sensor batteries run down and beeping all night long. I think more attention to these details is must.
We arrived and instantly wanted to leave; and indeed did so the next day. Whilst the main living & kitchen areas were passably clean, our complaints were for the following: the entire place smelt damp and musty; the downstairs floor was very dirty in places; the bathroom lino was a disgrace, with mould spores all over it; two pillows were old, brown and stained, & none of them had protectors; the outdoor patio & barbecue area were filthy; the outdoor furniture hadn’t been cleaned. Overall the place was very shabby, with peeling window frames, tatty & faded furniture & old, dusty knick-knacks ...more
The beds were very soft. Not good for golfers backs. Well set out cottage and every thing you need. Service and staff at hotel were excellent.
