We stayed at Muckrach (and Cairngorm Cottage) for 3 nights for my 50th birthday celebration with 30 guests. It was absolutely brilliant! The house is immaculate, comfortable, clean and spectacular. It's very welcoming and it has everything there you need and just a amazing place to relax and enjoy its surroundings whether it be reading the papers in the library, chilling in the copious sitting rooms or playing croquet on the lawn. The piano bar was a particular hit with my party! I didn't leave the grounds for 3 days as I didn't want to miss a second of it! I believe the bedrooms (maybe all th...more
We very much enjoyed our stay in Cathedral House. It was extremely comfortable, beautifully decorated and in a terrific position. Would highly recommend!
Arrived at the property, which was a breath taking setting, The property was warm and of a very high standard. Everything you needed was catered for and more. This is the best place we have stayed in and none of the family wanted to go home. What more can you say other than thank you and if you need any staff to manage the estate or properties, would be willing to relocate from Suffolk. Many thanks for memorably stay.
Mallard is a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Extremely comfortable and well appointed. Outdoor space is lovely. Great for families of all ages. Would love to return.
The only complaint . I felt 4pm arrival and 10 am departure left a short break quite short . Must holiday homes are 3 pm and 11am . I felt I was starting to pack things up the night before departing as we had to be out by 10 am . Probably if you were there for a week . It wouldn’t be as bad. The house however was lovely .
Lovely spacious place to stay for a week exploring the Cairngorms. Clean and comfy, spotlessly clean. Perfect sized enclosed garden for dogs.
Writing to say thank you. We had 15 adults and 16 kids (ages 3 to 10) and found Gulabin Lodge an excellent experience to have such a gathering. The house and grounds provide ample space for games for the children. The kitchen was well stocked. The firepit was a hit and captivated everyone. We were in easy reach of local walks. Nothing was a problem for Helen and Tim and they created a relaxed atmosphere for us to have a wonderful weekend.
If you want to stay somewhere remote, quiet and peaceful, but without having to compromise in comfort, Laggandhu is the place to be. Very beautiful cottage which is well maintained. Not too far from activities and shops in the surrounding environment. We would definitely come back and can highly recommend this cottage.
We returned for a second time, after a lovely stay last year, for a family holiday. The property is really clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We had regular visits from red squirrels and a range of wild life. The secure garden was enjoyed by our grand daughter and the dogs. There are great walks right from the door, access to local cafes and a shop plus the opportunity to watch the steam train 6 times a day. We hope to return next year.
Stables Cottage is a beautifully appointed and comfortable home with everything you could ever need and more. It is in a wonderful, quiet and stunning spot nestled up against the forest yet accessible to the village itself. From the amazingly comfortable, sumptuous beds to the beautiful artwork on the walls, it did not disappoint. We will be back and would highly recommend this fantastic home. Thank you.
We stayed 4 nights and wished it was longer. Very comfortable and well equipped with a good garden. The sauna and hot tub were well used. We were a party of 6 unrelated adult couples and it suited us well. It would be good for an intergenerational family. There is a some road noise from the garden but it didnt bother us and means accessibility is good.
Have stayed here many times so that’s a good sign! Another lovely stay! This year it felt cosier as the heating was set to come on in the morning which was so much better. Ice bag in freezer also a great plus! Same suggestions as last year! A coffee machine! Can buy a nespresso for minimal ££. I bring my own but is a hassle! Blind in master bedroom high window. Make the bunk room window into a door so the room is more useable as a real 3 bedroom rather than 2.5! The trolleys to move luggage etc are vital but one of them is falling apart! Having said that I have rebooked for n...more
beautiful house and location, this is not meant to be critical or in any way a reflection on whether or not we will return to this house, but having had several visits to this property, we noticed it was starting to look a little tired, showers/kitchen work benches etc that said, it is a fabulous house in a beautiful location wonderful family holiday
Now our second stay in this lodge and was truly exceptional. The location on the Speyside Way is is perfect for cyclists and walkers. The lodge itself has just so many little features that make it special - from games to play and bird feeders to watch the wildlife to the space it provides which allow larger groups to do there own thing or gather together to enjoy each other's company.
We had a magnificent stay at Forest Trail Lodge from 18/5/26 - 25/5/26. The lodge was immaculate on arrival and everything perfect for ourselves my son and daghter-in-law and 18 month old grandson. I could not fault anything from the design of the lodge, the comfort of the beds and couches, and the range of kitchen crockery and utensils. The range of wild birds and a red squirrel delighted us all especially grandson Liam and I would recommend getting a bag of wild birdfood early in the stay to get as much benefit as possible. All in all a great week and we hope to return next year.
We really enjoyed our stay here. House was spacious and had everything needed to cook for a large group. We played lots of games in the evenings having taken them with us. Only downside was as was wet for most of trip very difficult to dry anything. Ie after watersports trip.
Fabulous house with everything you would need. Owners were very helpful and lovely to deal with! Would stay again!
Ellon cottage was the perfect place for a restorative vacation. Remote, quiet and scenic location. Well equipped kitchen and all comfortably furnished.
Great location - not cheap, but it’s well appointed. We enjoyed our stay and will book again. I won’t bother with “the good” stuff because that’s already good, so to the improvement required….. House not clean enough. Soap and debris under taps , dust in lots of corners - better cleaner required. Not enough logs left for the stay. Log burner not adjustable and needs looking at as it incinerates only . Broken shelves in fridge. That’s it.
We had a fantastic stay at the Old Ministers House and have booked with GNL many times. We visit the area several times a year and the location at Rothimurcus is perfect for us for all the activities we enjoy. The house itself is very comfortable there's lovely big sofa in living room, bedrooms and en-suites all clean and big comfy beds, the kitchen could do with a bit of a spruce up and a couple of things renewed however the house has the perfect layout for family groups and and the garden with hotub & BBQ area is fab. The only moan we have is that for the price logs could have been provid...more
We have stayed in Bennachie previously and this persuaded us to rebook. This area is one we know well and the beautiful house is ideal for a mixed age family stay. Plenty of room and beautiful peaceful surroundings. I would certainly recommend Bennachie to anyone wanting a comfortable, peaceful place to stay for a lovely holiday.
Great location, close to shops and centre of town Place was spotless and well equipped although we did no cooking Place was warm and comfortable Only issue was double bed was very low in height making it slightly difficult to get out and up from. Mattress was quite firm but appreciate this is a very individual. Would not put me off booking again
We have stayed with Great North Lodges previously and always find the properties as described and in good locations. Usually we have been impressed with the standard of accommodation but were disappointed on this occasion. Two of the bathrooms in the house were not clean and had fallen into disrepair. The bathroom in the twin room was unsafe and the shower door fell off the runner. Additionally the kitchen ovens were dirty. The hot tub is showing its age. GNL response to an email however was quick and we had a property management agent come out and clean that afternoon. The property had cl...more
Heather Cottage has lived up to its previous charm and comfort. Very comfortable, very clean, very homely. New Hot-tub was good and easy to use. Bedrooms had been newly decorated to a high standard. Ideally located for Aviemore, just far enough away so as not to be noisy, but near enough that you can walk in.
This was our 3rd visit to Reindeer House, and the first since the refurb. We loved the house before, but now - just Wow! ❤️The extended deck, the clear balcony glass and the opening out of the back room into the lounge to allow you to see even more of that fantastic view! What a great job! As usual the house was immaculately clean, comfy and well equipped. We made good use of the hot tub. Thank you!
Just back from our stay at Station Cottage. Lovely enclosed garden for our dog Ron, who loved it, playing football and watching the world go by. The Speyside Way runs right next to the Cottage and it is perfect for a quick walk out with the dog or even a full day's walking. Nethy Bridge itself has great walks around the village and it an ideal base to explore further a field. Andrew was the perfect host.
Our second stay at Baddengorm and we had a fab time with great weather too fortunately. The house is amazing and has everything you need. We hope to be back again soon.
Location was ideal for our purposes, very tranquil and beautiful but still close enough to main local amenities and attractions. Bridge closure was inconvenient but did not detract. Property is modern, clean and comfortable and is well provided for in all respects for everything we needed and more on our stay. We enjoyed using the log burner on a rainy day. The hot tub was good too and clearly well maintained. Overall we felt Rivercroft was a ‘home from home’ and offered us a relaxing family retreat. Hopefully we will return soon.
The location is wonderful and overall we enjoyed our three night family stay. We all felt that there were things not up to scratch for the very high price of a three night stay. One window in the living room and one window in the large first floor bedroom had smeared fingerprints all over them. There were no usable gas lighters for the fire/hot tub, bowls and plates were dirty and some quite badly cracked or chipped, the bathroom floor upstairs hadn't been cleaned properly as there were black hairs everywhere and doors were dirty where people have opened and closed them. The placemats and co...more
Had a great stay with extended family at Croft Kincardine. Lots of space and very quiet and peaceful with huge terrace for enjoying sundowners at the end of action packed days. Can thoroughly recommend.
This is our second time staying here and we have always enjoyed our stay. It’s comfortable, clean and the location is perfect. Within easy walking distance of shops and train station. The garden and decking is lovely, especially when you get the lovely weather to enjoy it! It would be good if there was a gate or something at the bottom of the garden to make it enclosed for dogs.
A group of my friends who all turned 40 recently just stayed at The Neuk and the property was everything we wanted. Lots of socialising space, a hot tub and the table tennis all contributed to a great weekend. The local pub just around the corner was also an added bonus.Would definitely recommend to any wanting to stay in the Aviemore area.
We booked our stay as a treat for our honeymoon with our two young kids. Unfortunately due to a storm we were left with no electricity. While we understand that this is out with the control of the owners the running water is pumped by an electric pump and it meant that for the first nearly 24 hours we had no running water as well as electricity and as had to vacate the property for an entire day. When we reached out regarding this we feel we have been let down with no adequate resolution and ourselves out of pocket. As a result we would not recommend this property
We stayed at Bracken House for a week in late June 2026 and had a wonderful time. The house was lovely, very clean, comfortable and had every amenity you could have a need for. The location is set within stunning silver birch woods on the outskirts of Aviemore where you can walk into town within 15 minutes or set off into the surrounding mountains on foot direct from the door. The location is peaceful, yet close enough to the shops and anything else that Aviemore offers. The house is spacious, very comfortable with everything you could need. It overlooks beautiful woods to rear where you...more
We had a wonderful break and are hoping to all return.Yes,it is "dated" but doesn't detract from it's charm. My grandson loved the space and being all on one level to work on his walking! Ideal property to explore an area that we all love. I agree with an earlier review that it would benefit from one of the twins becoming a double and also from blackout curtains in rooms with single beds where early rising children might be,especially in Summer! but otherwise we all had a great stay.
A nice stay in Aviemore. Enjoyed the hot tub & excellent location. Surprised to see a for sale sign when arrived as had not been advised of this. Concerned we might have viewings while there, but none. Stayed here a few times now so disappointed with the level of cleanliness & starting to look tired in places.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with 3 generations of the family. It was comfortable, spacious and clean with a well-equipped kitchen and large dining room table for family dining. Everything worked! There were beautiful views of the Cairngorms mountains especially from the bedrooms on the 1st floor. The grandparents occupied the ground floor bedroom and the rest of the family were upstairs. 3 of the 4 bedrooms had an en suite bathroom which made it easy for all. The table football and trampoline kept the teenagers busy during downtime in the house. The large square table in the lounge was...more
Great accommodation- very comfortable and everything I needed! Location was perfect- short walk to town and plenty of dog walking areas. Also close for getting to other areas within the Cairngorms, Inverness or Lochness. Would defo recommend!
Well equipped lodge, nice location and having sauna and hot tub is fantastic. There's a few tight corners but great value.
Nice lodge but we had some issues with hot water, and one of the beds had a mattress that smelled really bad. Cleanliness was okay but lots of dust under the beds. Hopefully a one-off as we have rented cottages with Great North Lodges before without any issue.
It’s a very attractive house architecturally. The dining and living area is very cosy. We lit the wood-burning stove and really enjoyed the warmth and atmosphere. There’s a small utility room (+++) leading out to the sauna and the hot tub (+++). It’s all very well laid out. The kitchen is beautifully fitted out, but could be a bit better equipped for cooking. The bathrooms are top-notch. The bedrooms are also very nicely furnished, but the mattresses are hard and uncomfortable. There weren’t any extra blankets either, which we could have done with. We could have slept better.
