We had a great week at The Lookout with lovely walks, fantastic sunrise's and some great food, particularly at The Suffield Arms and The Lighthouse Inn. The Lookout had every thing you could possibly need and more! The wood burner was particularly welcome on cold January days.
Sea Urchin is very clean, comfortable and cosy, well decorated. We had a lovely welcome from Robert who had provided excellent directions and local information. Our main consideration was the close proximity to the beach as we have dogs at the opposite ends of the age spectrum so didn't want to be walking either too far.
Hadn’t holidayed with both of our GSD before but this was the perfect place to stay. Accomodation and ameneties were to such a high standard with everything you could possibly need. The addition of a secure field to use throughout the stay was so welcome and lovely walks direct from the door. Would love to stay again soon and would highly recommended, the owners were lovely and communicative before and during the stay when we reached out to them.
We love Bumblebee. It’s a well thought through cottage, comfortable and homely yet with all the mod-cons you could wish for. The standard of finish and cleanliness is to a high standard. It’s located in a lovely area, close to beaches and surrounded by fields. It brings nature to the door and a sense of tranquility. The owners are super helpful, if required, and discreetly in the background. We love it there, been a few times and booked for next year. Bumblebee is well worth a visit.
Had a very chilled out week for my birthday. Barn is perfect for the dogs and their owners. The garden is surrounded by a very tall wall so no doggy escapes possible. There is a short walk to the beach, around a field and quiet lane, which we did most days. It was a bit muddy due to rain but that’s November for you! Owners were lovely and very responsive to any issues.
Our 2nd stay at The Peanut didn't disappoint. We received a wonderful welcome pack and presents from our hosts Paul & Stella. It was fabulous to be back in Happisburgh Common for a peaceful, relaxing Beachmas (aka christmas) with long beach walks every day and listening for the Tawny Owls at night. Our 15 month old labrador had fun chasing the seafoam on the beaches at Walcott and Happisburgh and running through the dunes at Winterton, no runs on the beach there as the seals were in residence. We love the peace and tranquility of The Peanut and the onsite dog paddock is a bonus.
1 Paynes Cottage is delightful. It has been sensitively renovated retaining its original features combining with modern living . The welcome hamper was greatly appreciated as were the safe areas where our dog ‘Bertie’ could romp. The cottage had everything we needed during our five night stay although the Broadband/Wifi connection is very slow. The local pub, the Crown inn, was also very welcoming and produced well priced suppers with huge portions!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Thank you
Jack's Shack over and above met all our needs for a perfect Christmas Looked amazing when we arrived so festive and welcoming. Total comfort from sofas to beds. cosy and warm . Kitchen best equipped I have ever stayed in. Location was amazing straight onto the dunes. The added extras for the humans and dogs went over and above our expectations. Thankyou Caroline and East Ruston Cottages we will definitely return Caroline.Bob and Woody & Dudley 2 very happy whippets
The cottage is a modern thatched cottage situated in the town of Hoveton near Wroxham, and as such provided an ideal base for a Christmas break. The owners had decorated it for Christmas giving a lovely welcoming feel, and they had provided a welcome pack to get us started which included a Christmas cake. The front garden of the cottage is huge but we couldn’t let our dog explore on his own as he is quite agile and could have scaled the fence if not watched. (He can do this at home!) For less bouncy dogs it is ideal. From our base we were able to reach the coast quite easily and had a very br...more
We love the barn because it has level access for Molly, our elderly dog. She can easily get to the garden and loves to snuggle in her bed downstairs, where she can see us. There are also lots of rugs, so she’s not sliding around, which also adds to the high level of furnishings. I love the art on the walls and that the kitchen is furnished with Denby, and Emma Bridgewater - all brands I'd use in my home. We've been to the area at least once a year with Molly since we rescued her, so we find ourselves increasingly back to our holiday home by early afternoon for tea and cake, so the place we sta...more
Our second time here and even better than we remembered. Everything we needed was there. Near to lots of dog friendly beaches Happisburgh, Cart Gap and Sea Palling being our favourites, Winterton is a bit further but definitely worth it. We enjoyed a couple of circular walks from the cottage. Hope to return in the near future
We had an absolutely brilliant holiday at The Walnut. The property had everything we needed, owners are lovely, facilities perfect for us and our young Labrador. Easy driving distance to the beach and Broads. We couldn’t have asked for any more!
We were very excited to arrive at Dormy for Christmas. Stepping inside, it was perfectly decorated for Christmas with the little tree on a table - out of a dog’s reach! Phew! The lovely welcome tray is always a nice surprise but we were blown away by the Christmas extras for humans and dogs. Pure luxury was discovered when we opened the generous hamper plus the beautifully wrapped big box of luxurious dog treats. Just brilliant and so thoughtful of the owners. We were very touched by their thoughtful gifts. Dormy was immaculate until the Cypriots slobbered their sandy/muddy noses on the pat...more
This was our second stay here, and it did not disappoint! The cottage was spotlessly clean, superb welcome pack, and as before, exceedingly dog friendly. The facilities ate all you could possibly wish for, and I couldn't recommend it highly enough
This is our second visit to this lovely cottage beautifully presented from the moment you arrive the field for the dogs to run in is ideal. Everything has been thought of it’s definitely luxury to a high standard. The welcome hamper for us & our 5 dogs was a lovely touch even included a birthday cake & card. The owners are onsite & are friendly & helpful. The cottage is ideally situated for the beach, wooded walks. Stalham is a couple of miles away which has a supermarket, fish & chip shop & other takeaways also a vet which we have had to use. This accommodation is 1st class!
Ruby gem is a beautifully presented holiday cottage. It's close to the village shops and a very short walk to the dunes and beach. We took our two dogs who loved it there. The beach cafe is open some of the time, winter opening hours, and their coffee and hot chocolate was very welcome. Plenty of walks on fairly deserted beaches with the odd seal pup to avoid. Still plenty of seals on the beach at Horsey Gap even this late in the season. We'd come to celebrate my birthday and our hosts very kindly decorated the cottage and left a generous welcome basket. Cottage was lovely and warm and the l...more
Salty Sea Dog is located about 2 minutes from a lovely Sandy beach. We enjoyed long walks in both directions, towards Walcott and Mundesley. Nice local fish and chip shop, Chinese restaurant and cafes within walking distance. The lodge is very clean, comfortable and is very well equipped. It has sea views from lounge and dining area. The owner supplied very helpful information about the area and lodge prior to arrival. Would definitely recommend
My husband, 2 cocker spaniels & I returned for our 4th stay this year in Winterton. As you can tell we have rather fallen in love with the place! It was our first visit though to Hidden Gem and a real gem it is - fabulous welcome packs for both humans & dogs, very communicative owner and in a super location in a quiet lane just a few paces through the garden to the dunes. Comfy beds, a well appointed kitchen and a really cosy living room for the evenings, complete with the log burner - this was needed as it did turn rather wintry in Winter during our stay. All in all a lovely few days.
We’ve stayed at a lot of ERC cottages. They are always fab, but White Cottage, for us, was the absolute dog’s pyjamas. The garden was perfect: perfect size and perfect fencing. I didn’t have one worry about a gap or a low bit or a wobbly bit… the conservatory was a big hit with the dogs and meant there was a holding area, if they got a bit muddy, before they got into the main house. Having a downstairs loo was great, but even better was having the actual bathroom upstairs. We always travel with our own stairgate and throws, but these were already provided so that was perfect. Decor is gorgeo...more
Another gem in the East Ruston stable, the girls & I usually stay at the lodge as it’s one bedroom & on one level & there is just myself. So a cheeky change of venue as cost wise it was doable. Cosy & warm on our arrival, pretty much everything you’d need was supplied.. sadly the garden gate on to the beach wasn’t available.. but it’s a few minutes walk to the beach. As a home checker, I noticed the rear fence is jumpable! There is a raised bed/boarder so it’s nearer 5’ if not slightly lower.. the log fire in the evening was lovely & cosy.. I’d definitely recommend sandrift & would go bac...more
A fabulous property, very clean, spacious, comfy beds, well equipped kitchen and everything you need for the dogs. Wonderful welcoming tray and fresh flowers. Excellent location for local walks and nearby beaches are only 15 minutes in the car. Plenty of supermarkets in the locality plus farm shops. We couldn’t have been made to feel any more welcome and would love to go back.
This was our third stay with our fear reactive to other dogs rescue dog Jeff. The accommodation is so comfortable and equipped with every thing both humans and dogs could need. The secure garden is wonderful, Jeff loves it. Jeff loves the countryside walks from the property. There are often no other dogs around at all or if there is one off lead local dog owners are so happy to put their dog back on lead when politely asked. The coast is only a couple of miles away and there are lovely walks only a few miles from the property. The owners are wonderful and so helpful, as is the East Ruston comp...more
We really enjoyed our family break in Bishy Barnabee. Mark and Helen were kind enough to allow our Son plus his family and also our friends to join ourselves, and our daughter and family to join us on the Saturday. The supply of the crate for one of our dogs that had a cruciate ligament op on the Monday before our stay was very much appreciated. The grand children want to come again. You know when that happens it’s been an enjoyable stay
Another fantastic stay at the crib everything was amazing and Helen again had pulled out all the stops again as she always does for her guests
As soon as we walked in to Woodpecker Lodge we knew we would have a great holiday - immaculately clean, with some Christmas decorations, it was immediately inviting. We explored many of the local beaches and towns, loved the local bakery and the Smokehouse. For the dogs, we couldn’t have asked for more with a large assortment of crates, throws on the sofas and spare towels, not to mention a fabulous welcome hamper! There were even some steps to help my old boy up and down from the sofa. Evenings in the hot tub, the added bonus, meant we had a great Christmas break! Definitely recommend.
We had a lovely stay in this pretty and well equipped dog-friendly property. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We managed to time our arrival with Storm Amy blowing in, and were delighted that she had ensured the accommodation was toasty warm. Being Norfolk, the sun magically managed to put in an appearance each day. The stunning sandy beach was within walking distance, as was Happisburgh’s iconic lighthouse.
We had a fantastic time here, will definitely be back. Beautiful house and they couldn’t have done more. Especially as we had massive problems at the end of the holiday. The welcome pack for people and dogs was amazing.
Corner cottage surpassed all of my expectations, from the generous welcome basket to the clean and comfortable interior. We had everything we could possibly need and the attention to detail was amazing. It really was a home from home and a great location for my reactive dogs who were more chilled than they have ever been. If you are looking to escape fireworks and the drama of new year and replace with long countryside walks and quiet beaches them I would recommend this one.
We had another fantastic stay at the Beechcomber. I cannot fault this property or its location, we always have an amazing time. Our 3 beautiful dogs love it and the walks are great. We are always sad to go but we will come back again. Customer service is good, easily accessible, the owner always texts upon arrival to check everything is ok and is easily contactable for any queries you may have. Thank you and see you soon.
We had a wonderful time, Leonie was so helpful, the cottage was very warm and well appointed. Hearing the waves crash on the beach from the house was mesmeric. Would highly recommend this property.
Beautiful barn in great location. Warm comfortable, everything had been considered to make our stay perfect for dogs and humans. The underfloorheating was a great hit with the dogs and they also loved the outside areas. We will be back but we know we will need to book asap.
We enjoyed our stay at the very comfortable Brig Cottage, Scratby. The cottage is a short walk from a wide, sandy beach with great walks in both directions. The bedrooms are very comfortable and the cottage well equipped for a self-catering stay. Lots to do and see in the area e.g. National Trust properties, Cromer, Sheringham, Horsey Gap, Redwings Horse Sanctuary. Plenty of places at which to eat and drink. Great value and highly recommended.
Beautiful. Only problem for us was the stairs. We both have problems with our legs. But was a fantastic place.
We came to stay here to visit Thursford which is just 40 mins away. It was great to be able to bring our dogs with us and be able to leave them in the property for a little while. Not all holiday cottage companies let you do this. We also had a recommendation for a dog sitter called The Fairy Dog Lover and she was great. She came to meet us and called to feed them while we were at Thursford. The property was so practical as well with non slip vinyl flooring throughout and access to a secure garden. The welcome pack was also great. Everything you need for a first nights stay and also inc...more
Our 1st new year away to avoid fire works, 4th time at Thatch won’t be our last 6 dogs 6 people perfect family time. Dogs loved the garden perfect for zoomies we loved all the places we can get to easily from there having 6 rescue pups all with different triggers the quiet walks are a blessing. The well equipped kitchen made it easy to eat in every night we took it in turns to cook and we enjoyed doing it perfect family time.
Skylark is a well equipped compact little chalion the Winterton Estate by miles of sandy beach. We were sent loads of info that turned out to be for the whole region so had to be dug through to find out what was actually local. At last minute chose to pack our own bedding on discovering that dog friendly did not include the bed. Lovely week with lots of walks on the beach spotting the seals. Curious to see other chalets for hire and sale on the site. Then discovered we could have booked directly with Winterton for a similar chalet, but with WiFi and a sea view, for £74 less than we had p...more
We felt relaxed as soon as we opened the gate into the large secure garden. The cottage is very well equipped and was nice and cosy. Our dog loved the big, safe garden and we all enjoyed the treats in the welcome pack. Amazing walks from the cottage itself and only a short drive to the beach where we saw loads of seals and their pups. A perfect long weekend away. Can’t recommend highly enough!
We’ve not been away at Christmas before & after a busy couple of months this was the perfect, cosy, Christmas escape, so clean & tidy too, with a very comfortable bed! The most wonderful selection of welcome goodies for us, with treats for the dogs too, & lovely to be greeted with the little Christmas touches (thank you). The Lodge really is equipped with all you could need, & so refreshing to be warm on arrival & throughout our stay. The owners really have thought of everything & more! Very dog friendly with good sized garden, dog beds, toys, bowls, dog towels should you need them, & even an ...more
Really enjoyed our week at this beautifully renovated cottage. Walking the dogs by the marina was a treat for them and us. Local beaches in easy reach by car and many were almost empty and dog friendly. A perfect location for a week away in early autumn
The bungalow was really nice, very clean and with comfy beds. The beach is only a short walk away, and there was always beach there even at high tide. The dogs really loved it. Lovely walks in the area , Bacton Woods and the Weavers Way being two of them.
Loved the fact nobody was on site! Mid January Downside was that reception was closed and have to venture out for wood for the burner. The heating was set at random times, so it was hot thru the night but chilly on the evening when back and relaxing. 2 ladies in there 50's that struggled with the heating and TV - maybe if the husband's had come thru may have sussed it
Our first time at this property, and it was a peaceful retreat from city fireworks for me and Milly. We were made to feel very welcome by Kerry and Kevin - the welcome pack was very generous! The cottage looks out across fields opposite, and the garden is lovely. We were lucky with the weather and afternoons were spent in the conservatory, toasting comfortably, after morning walks on the Weaver's Way and other local footpaths. Such a good week, thank you!
We enjoyed our break in this snug little cottage with its dog friendly safe garden. Attentive owner next door. Although very rural only a short drive to Stalham and a little further to glorious beach at Sea Palling. Almost everything you need in the cottage and very comfy beds too.
East cottage was a really cosy warm place to stay when the temperatures were freezing outside. It was very clean, super comfortable beds, and had everything we could possibly need. The circular river walk was enjoyable and well signposted. The hot tub was a real treat and a lovely way to relax and warm up after a chilly dog walk on the beach. We enjoyed beach walks at Waxham, Bacton and Caister. A trip to Cromer for fish and chips. Walked along the beach to Sea Palling for hot chocolates and doughnuts. The enclosed dog field was a bonus and meant our escapee could enjoy time off lead. Highl...more
We were very excited to arrive along a quiet track next to Hickling Broad to find a wonderful, traditional and spacious house right next to the broads. We had such a lovely welcome with a tasty homemade cake waiting for us. The huge secure garden was a real hit with our dogs. They did a lot of partying in the garden, mainly chasing birds. And then a lot of snoozing by the open fire. The owner, Jane, was very caring and popped by with extra wood and to check we were warm and comfortable. The kitchen larder was well stocked with lots of crockery and glasses. Plus, two teapots! Red Roof...more
The house is great and the garden is so spacious and perfect for dogs due to being fenced in all the way.
A really great dog friendly cottage with super responsive hosts. We felt at home from the very start in this lovely space. With plenty of dog bowls, towels, treats, poo bags, toys and 2 beds, we didn’t need to worry about forgetting anything which made preparing much easier! Our two labradors had plenty of space and the tiled kitchen diner and utility/ entrance space were easy to wipe clean with the doggy towels and cleaning spray provided. Plenty of dishes, cutlery, glassware and plates for all our needs. Also great thoughtful touches like a drawer with charging cables, plugs and torches - es...more
Pollywiggle was in a beautiful location with walks to the beach and to the broads. I had a couple of small niggles at first but they were quickly dealt with, mostly down to my knowledge of how to work the gas oven. Their is no gas were I live. The garden is very secure and although gravel was fine for my dogs. The static has all you need, except a bread knife. Being on the larger size I kept hitting the oven knobs when I was at the sink. The bed was wonderfully comfortable
