We had a wonderful week in this great house! It is in a perfect location; we loved the view and being able to walk to such a perfect beach. We will be back!
Stable appartment was perfect for our visit to beautiful Colonsay. It was clean, had a very comfortable bed and had all the equipment we needed. Colonsay house is surrounded by beautiful walks and only a short distance to Kiloran beach.
Excellent accommodation whilst cycling on Colonsay. Easy access and beautiful grounds to explore when not at the beach!
Get away from it all on Colonsay, and especially at Balerhomindubh House. Don’t even consider it if you need WiFi or phone signal. It is perfect for old fashioned off grid holidays. The track is entertaining even in a 4x4 but with due care is easily manageable. The house is clean and comfortable with a good serviceable kitchen which ended up being where we all sat of an evening. The multi fuel stove in the sitting room is wonderful. Comfortable beds & simple decor (some a little tired but hey…!) it was a perfect spot for our fabulous stay & sleeps 2 families with ease. Garvard is in a beautiful and peaceful location , but given it sleeps 10 the spaces & facilities are insufficient for 10 adults . Felt it was overpriced and electricity was an additional cost . It was clean the cleaners do a great job .
Spotlessly clean, extremely well maintained & appointed. Lovely open fire, kitchen, diner, lounge area & bedroom. Ideal location for a long break to explore the islands many beaches. Very pleasant staff & always a very warm welcome. Look forward to my next visit.
this was our third stay at the cottage unfortunately over the last few years it has fallen behind the standard people expect in this day and age and is not a cheap holiday its expensive to heat and the the very rough track has deteriorated on each visit its a shame because the views are beautiful.
Just missing the (could I say) female touches. eg. Some wildflowers in the empty flower vase, some herbs & spices and olive oil in the kitchen, some better than basic crockery. Otherwise, clean, comfy bed, excellent bathroom, good facilities.
A second floor apartment in an attractively traditional house and garden surrounds. Good value overall.
Fantastic never lets me down the island from the age of 6 when I stayed with my Nan and cousin Jessie McNeil I am now 73. Missing all the old islanders
We had a great stay at Machrin's House which was in a perfect location to explore the island and watch the sunset each evening. The only issue we had was with the Wi-Fi as this was very slow with so many individuals using it, but there was plenty to keep us occupied it wasn't a big issue! We can't wait to come back again!
The Harbour Cottage is located very close to the ferry, shop, cafe and hotel. It is comfortable, quiet and easy to run for a family or group of up to six. Being close to the ferry terminal is very convenient and at present very interesting with ongoing work to deepen the berth for deeper draught vessels. The Cottage is well equipped and furnished with a good broadband and mobile signal. Our family group of four adults and two children had a great time in this cosy cottage on the beautiful Island of Colonsay.
Avenue is located within the Colonsay House Estate in its woodland gardens just a matter of a few minutes walk from its Estate Office and formal gardens (well worth visiting the formal gardens and tea room when they're open). The cottage is pretty, has a drive that would easily accommodate two vehicles (handy for friends holidaying together) and has it's own, unenclosed, grass garden with washing line. The cottage is in a damp location and faces away from the sun, surrounded by tall heavy trees. Little sunshine gets into it and it was cold even in July. We had to put on the electric heaters morning and some nights. On wet days this was worse. The interior needs refurbished asap, particularly the bathroom which was unpleasant. The bathroom is ar the front door and the bedrooms at the back necessitating a hike in the night! There were minor maintenance issues like the shower string breaking. In an amazing location near Kiloran Bay. Clean and well equipped cottage. Ideal for Wildlife lovers.
The house was very expensive for the offering it was dark and damp and the furniture is in need of an upgrade we were lucky that the weather was good as it wasn’t the house for staying in doors and relaxing with a good book
Celebrating 20 years of coming to Colonsay with the family and staying with Colonsay Estate Cottages. Lovely week. Kiloran Bay is a very special place.
