An isolated house with a glorious view. Very well maintained and comfortable inside. The access track is rough.
We've stayed before and it didn't disappoint, clean well furnished and equipped. Its great having the gardens and woodlands so close and a short walk to the glorious Kiloran Bay.
The best week of weather we have ever enjoyed in Baleromindubh House. Our 7th(?) year and we will be back. Full marks to Will for helping us through the water situation. Nothing could have spoilt this week. Even Calmac delivered us safely with their legendary good humour.... and this despite the Tiree Music Festival
Well located. Comfortable and spacious.Clear guidance booklet. Good for young children. Needs somewhere for drying outdoor gear. Ground floor bedrooms seemed slightly damp.Sliding door in upstairs en suite could trap people inside if fully closed.
We spent three nights here at the end of April and loved it. Isolated and homely with everything you need. Well looked after and well managed it was a pleasure to stay here. Loved the island, the wildlife, the weather, the walks. Would definitely stay again.
We loved it here. Quirky vintage Merc on arrival in courtyard and cosy decor good facilities. Free coal was a bonus (though we didn't use). Lovely location and on site for the lovely gardens and Bistro. Great stay. More space for food in kitchen was the only slight issue but kitchen very well stocked re utensils etc. Better insulated windows and curtains would help guests save on heating and more clarity re the cleaning we were required to do before leaving as this we thought an unusual request.
For a comfortable stay on Colonsay we would recommend Colonsay House apartments. Great location with plenty of options to walk from house. Lovely gardens and tasty cakes in the tea shop. Great birdwatching with coast, cliffs, woods, heath and moor with Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, Corncrake and Hen Harrier on your doorstep. Lovely beach. Only thing lacking was a sea view!
Perfect location amongst the formal gardens but easy to explore this stunning island. A great escape!
Very pleasant stay! And a big thank you to Kate. She helped me to organize / amend the journey back to Glasgow and the hotel as there was a change of the ferry timetable. Sorry, I do not understand 'Title of your Review ???
Wonderful location good solid house all rather old-fashioned. Equipment limited but this really doesn’t matter when viewed against the backdrop of Colonsay. Paying £60 for two bags of coal when they can be bought atthe service point for £13 each hurt rather.
Perfect location and well equipped cottage. Would definitely consider returning and would recommend to family and friends.
We have stayed at Machrins a few times and always enjoy it. There were 14 of us - so we were full but it never felt cramped. Also - always enough hot water! Staff at the Cottages Office have always been very helpful. We will definitely be back. The 4s I have given merely reflect the fact that it is a large, old house with a short turnover for cleaning. We actually quite like the shabby chic.
Needed a cottage on ground floor level with 2 beds and 2 bathrooms - Avenue Cottage fitted the bill! Not a great idea to choose a cottage in trees as what it lacked in views it more than made up for in midges. The cottage was nicely decorated but a little sparsely equipped, a few luxuries would have been more in line with the cost. Lovely comfy beds (if you like them soft), more than adequate pillows but the downie had that lumpiness you get from it having been washed just once too often. I highly recommend dinner in The Pantry where the food and service is first rate! Overall a very po...more
Pond Cottage was lovely. It was really clean and spacious and had everything we needed. It is in the most tranquil location near to the grounds of Colonsay House. We loved everything about the property.
The Kennels is pretty and well placed, the kitchen well equipped and the beds confortable. A couple of things disappointed, considering the rental cost there eere only two loo rolls for two for a week...nothing in the kitchen such as salt, pepper etc. There was a surcharge of about 8p per unit on the electricity and oil, which is already not included in the rental cost... Otherwise, the instructions to find the cottage are very clear exceot for the last turn...there is a large sign saying 'no cars beyond this point', which must confuse many holidaymakers, as it does not mention ,except for ...more
The house is in an excellent position for Kiloran Bay which is a 5 minute walk away however there are no views of the beach from the house or the garden. The house is small for 6 people and the stairs are essentially a ladder so if 4 people were to sleep upstairs they would have to be very agile and not be young kids. The is no TV (which was great) but there is excellent wifi. When we visited we were blessed with the heatwave so didn't spend much time in the living room, but again its small with possibly too much furniture squashed in there. The house was clean, beds comfy and the kitchen ha...more
Cosy house in a fantastic location just up hill from beach. A mile to Colonsay House. Steep ladder staircase unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
