Being a returning customer says it all, Angela was very professional keeping in touch and explaining each step making the experience very easy. The cottage was probably one of best we have ever stayed in.
A beautifully maintained, and well equipped, cottage situated in lovely surroundings run by friendly and helpful hosts. The cherry on top of the cake for us was being able to watch the resident Barn Owls on the webcam.
Comfort is always very good, cleaning service staff helpful and friendly. The wildlife is wonderful seen from the window(boxing hares partridge pheasants kestrals squabbling over the nest box bats in the dusk and of course the barn owls_mother baby and father cementing his position in the pairing on t.v.ch 800)quite and peaceful, weather just right for us not to hot didn't need anything heavier than a body warmer .See you again soon looking forward to the hamper etc.
Our second visit and the cottage didn't disappoint. Lovely rural location yet just minutes from Bridlington one way and Bempton Cliffs the other. The cottage is comfortable and beautifully furnished with the added bonus of 24/7 'Owl cam'. It was lovely to be able to watch mum, dad and baby Barn Owl on the one, cold, wet day of our break, from the comfort of our sofa. Fabulous welcome hamper just adds to the whole experience. First class!
We very much enjoyed our stay at High Barn and the facilities were very good and the kitchen equipment of high quality as was the apartment in general. The double bed was very good and the bathrooms of high quality and plenty of storage space. Our comfort was reduced by the lounge sofas which were too soft and saggy as a result of wear. The lounge table was very long and close to the back window and movement around it restricted by the position and the length of the sofa. You cant do much about this. The chairs round the table were low in relation to the height of the table. It was however a ...more
After receiving raving recommendations from a dear friend we arrived at the High Barn Complex with great expectations, from entering The Owl House we instantly recognised that this is just a rather special place to stay and we would not be disappointed, the cleanliness was outstanding, wonderfully appointed and laid out, the quality of the beds and bed linen is second to none. Whilst in delightfully quiet rural setting it is perfectly situated for so much of East Yorkshire and beyond. We are certainly missing watching live coverage of the nesting owl. Providing there are vacancies for a fut...more
We had a lovely week in hind cottage. Everything you need is there plenty of room for us all. The bed are very comfortable Henry the dog loved his walks. Good job he didn’t see the chickens and baby rabbits in the field. Have stayed in quite a few of the cottages on this site. And will return again soon.
The apartment was very easy to find on arrival in York. Short drive from Monk Gate (about 250m). Parked the car on arrival in the allocated space and didn't move it again until leaving for home. Quite area. Short walks to Minster, Train Museum, Shambles etc. The minster towers could be seen from the apartment (3 storey with apartment on the top floor). Lift and stairs to top floor. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops locally. Try Kennedy's pub for breakfast on the roof terrace. Lovely basket of tea, coffee, wine and milk to welcome the visitors. Smart TV with TVs in both bedrooms. Ensuite...more
This was our second stay in the Old Brewery and we were not disappointed. The apartment is beautiful and it's located in the perfect position (just behind the Minster) for visiting the attractions of the city centre on foot. It's a peaceful oasis, away from the hustle & bustle but still within easy reach of everything. The apartment itself is spacious, comfortably furnished and immaculately presented. We appreciated the Welcome Hamper, containing locally produced breakfast cereal, biscuits, chocolate, fruit juice and fresh milk. The bottle of wine was shared with our friends and went down...more
Highly recommended. Lovely location. Excellent Cottage, with everything you might need supplied. For local attractions, make sure you visit Sewerby Hall, just down the road.
Our stay at the Brew House was Great for location & generally a great apartment. But unfortunately there were a few things that could have been better before we arrived. A small cupboard door was not attached & was left leaning against cupboard, the noise from the boiler & other services on the mezzanine bedroom was quite loud at night, the shower head in en-suite kept sliding down when wet which was a bit annoying. These are little things & to be honest did not spoil our holiday. The one thing that was annoying was the noise from people in apartment above walking about especially at night, ...more
This location was all we anticipated from the info we received prior to travel. First class in all respects, and a very welcome package of goodies waiting our arrival. Helpful and very friendly staff, made us feel instantly at home. Information about the locality was also proved to be accurate, with excellent meals at the North Star Hotel. Only one problem was had, that of the water clearance in the wet room, but we commented on that in the comments book. Everything else was excellent and we hope to return, perhaps to stay at High Barn. Would recommend without hesitation.
Felt good from the moment we opened the door and the very good layout and style confirmed our initial view. Touches of modern with cottagey worked really well Our host Mr and Mrs Foster were hands on and made us welcome. Weather was not too brilliant but as it was a relaxing space staying in occasionally was not an issue Perhaps a few more hooks in the kitchen and some non stick pans would have been a boon
What a lovely, quiet and relaxing place to stay with a great view of the cows in the field from The Byre lounge window. We really enjoyed our stay - the cottage was set up perfectly for us with our young daughter, she loved the cows, chickens, play area and having a go at croquet and there was plenty of room to ride her bike and scooter around. The cottage had everything you could need, very well set up with a little welcome tray which was fab on arrival. Super close to lots of places to visit and fantastic coast walks. Highly recommend.
3 days in this excellent place. Location great for Bempton Cliffs bird reserve and for getting around this area of the coast and inland to the Moors National Park. The accommodation is as good as we have ever stayed in for self catering, very well equipped, clean, quiet and comfortable. Hosts were helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend and hope to return.
