This is our second time staying at the Garden Cottage and we have stayed at High Barn Cottages for the past 10 years. For us, this cottage is simply perfect. Home from home in some sense but with the tranquillity and seclusion we are all chasing. The cottage is cosy and large and beautifully finished with all modern comforts. We loved our stay this December but had to hastily retreat when the snow came ( so apologies to John and family for this ) but we will be back soon. A truly wonderful, chilled and peaceful stay for us and now ready for 2026 !!
Stayed for 3 nights and didn't want to leave. Cottage is perfection we could not say one negative thing and we are very fussy! Spotlessly clean to the point you feel you are the first to stay here. The cottages are stunning. The stone walls give such ambience twinned with subtle lighting. Super Comfy couches and bed. Lots of free logs. Best welcome hamper ever! Easy to use all appliances and TV with guides if needed. Well equipped kitchen as we like to cook. So warm throughout with great underfloor heating we had t shirts on whilst minus degrees outside. FAMILY OF FOUR BOOKED TWO DAYS PRIOR AND THANKS TO JAMES FOR HANGING AROUND TO MEET US IN PERSON LATE FRIDAY AFTERNOON. FANTASTIC STAY AT "THE CAKE HOUSE" BOTH BEDROOMS EN-SUITE OUR TEENAGE DAUGHTERS LOVED THERE ROOM OVERLOOKING OPEN FIELDS NO ONE ELSE THERE DURING OUR STAY AND FELT VERY SPECIAL. FULLY FITTED KITCHEN, FREE WIFI ETC. THANKS FOR THE MILK, BUTTER, MINERAL WATER AND JUICE IN THE FRIDGE FOR OUR ARRIVAL. TEA, COFFEE ALL INCLUDED THANK YOU, WE WILL BE BACK. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. very clean, comfortable and warm. Fantastic welcome basket with lots of gooodies we really enjoyed. Owl cam on all the TVs was fascinating. Lots to do in the area. Lovely owners
The Hop Store is the perfect base to immerse oneself in all that historic York has to offer. It was our first stay at these apartments. The location alone recommends them. We explored so much each day, amidst the bustle, but to return to the peace of the apartment was bliss. Very clean, comfortable and relaxing. Very well maintained. We slept brilliantly!
The cottage was wonderful, we had a lovely time over Christmas. All our questions were answered promptly in advance, and we were provided with additional crockery on site as we had invited guests. I can highly recommend this accommodation. Warm regards from Germany
The Brew house is perfectly situated for a stay in York with the advantage of gated parking which for us is a big plus. A lovely welcome hamper on arrival and spotlessly clean throughout Unfortunately the weather was quite cold this time and the entire building was extremely cold and never got above17.5 degrees, quite uncomfortable when sitting in the lounge area, other than that we had a good stay and caught up with family members
A pleasant stay. Grandkids love staying here ask us to come back every year.we love staying at heritage escapes. Weather good for time of year didn’t stop us going out.kids loved Whitby and scarbrough fair.John Angela James Fiona are always very welcoming and friendly nothing to much trouble for them. We will be back next year already looking forward to it.
Lovely setting, beautiful cottage kitchen well equipped. Very relaxing stay close to great walks and pub lunches.
The Roost is a spacious, clean and comfortable holiday accommodation for four people. The standard and location of property is superb. It was a return visit for us to this named accommodation (we have stopped in most of the other properties on the Field House Farm) the first time we stopped here was September 2004 and the quality has altered. As always thankyou for providing high quality accommodation, that's why we are regular return visitors.
A beautiful apartment in a fantastic location. Even though it is right in the City it is peaceful and relaxing. The apartment is clean and has everything you need. Having parking is so handy.

The Byre is the 4th property that we have stayed in at Field House Farm/High Barn. Another perfect stay with everything we needed for a long weekend to break up our journey.
This is our 4th stay in the Old Dairy. We did consider looking elsewhere but as we really love the layout and the log burner we decided to pay another visit. The accommodation is excellent with everything you need. We continue to find different places to visit in the area and really loved the walk along the coast near the Flamborough North Landing and the Lighthouse.
