Great location in Portree with groceries, restaurants, and shops right there. We were able to explore the island in all directions, and then enjoyed coming back to relax at the end of the day. It's also walking distance to the start of the Scorrybreac path with its gorgeous views. Having a parking spot right across the street was great. The view from the living room is amazing, a fact that was highly appreciated by my husband who got really sick during our stay at Creag Dubh and couldn’t leave the house. Portree is really close, all major places of interest can be reached quite easily.
5 Galtrigill is a lovely cottage and perfect if you are looking for a getaway from the beaten paths and tourist streams on Skye. The location is right at the end of the street so there is hardly any traffic. The property is furnished and decorated with care and love, not only a rental object but with personal touch of the owners. We loved our stay here. This lovely little cottage is fairly newly built and is very well equipped with a modern kitchen and bathroom, beautifully furnished, very comfy bed and is very cosy with full central heating plus an added woodburner in case of wet and deary days. It was very handy to have the use of the washing machine. The view from the big patio windows is amazing and we didn’t need to close any of the curtains as there’s no light pollution. This property exceeded our expectations, it felt so welcoming, and was probably the best equipped place we've ever stayed - it had almost everything you could think of! We had a wonderful stay here! The location is absolutely stunning – it felt like we were at the end of the world, in the best possible way. The house itself is spacious, comfortable, and very well equipped. Our kids loved the selection of games inside, which made evenings together extra fun. It’s also a fantastic base for exploring the area, with so many activities within easy reach. We are grateful for the kind host, who even gave us tickets to the Highland Games – such a memorable highlight of our trip. We would love to return here again in the future!
This is one of the best cottage’s we stay in! It was so comfortable and clean and with the best views. Very welcoming and friendly, also very dog friendly. We loved that they gave us some dogs treats and biscuits for the dogs. Definitely recommend this place and definitely come back again in the future.
This place is the most stunning home, you can possibly book on the Isle of Skye. The house was incredible, and we loved every bit of it! The amazing bedrooms, with comfortable beds, and such a cozy and quiet atmosphere. The living room with the most stunning(!) view, overlooking Staffin Bay! Fairy Glen Cottage is ideally positioned for exploring the Isle of Skye; not far to go to Portree and Dunvegan and in easy walking distance to fairy glen. The Mill was a very comfortable and clean place to stay. The property is very good equipped and has a good location to explore the Isle of Skye.
We felt very comfortable in Ruadh. We were given such a warm welcome by our landlord that we felt like family. The house was in perfect condition, clean, warm and cozy. We saw deer in the evening and rabbits in front of our house in the morning. We felt like it was our home. Our landlord was very friendly and available at any time. We love this house!
What a lovely house...and location was great...views of the water and so very quiet....but easy to walk down the road to local pub or restaurant. House was really well equipped...would just suggest more hooks in bathroom as not room on towel rail for all the towels and nice to have somewhere near the sink for the hand towel to hang. Also a clothes drying rack would have been v handy. But overall a really gorgeous property.
Although the house is close to Broadford for stores and restaurants, the location still feels remote enough to fully disconnect. So quiet and beautiful. We loved being able to take hikes from the house and it is a great location for exploring closeby Elgol and Torrin. We also ventured further afield up to Portree and Old Man of Storr, but it was great to get back to our peaceful house at the end of the day. Clean, Comfortable and spacious. We were sad to leave!!
The house is absolutely beautiful and situated in a stunning location with breathtaking views. It is tastefully furnished and has all the equipment one could possibly want. Great for a family vacation! The location is rather remote, we had to get used to the single lane traffic!
The property was everything we hoped for and more. The perfect location and an amazing view. We could walk to the restaurants, bakery, and grocery store in minutes. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed to cook light meals. There were easy hill walks very nearby. We highly recommend this location to anyone wishing to stay on Skye.

Our stay was very comfortable and so nice. The cottage was tidy when we arrived and it has everything we need. You're practically alone here and can simply relax. A short walk takes you to Loch Mealt, which you can always see from the cottage. Truly beautiful.

Beautiful home, very clean in great location. The only things we would improve was having bigger pots and non-stick pans for cooking, having hot water availability for longer in the evenings, and softer beds or at least some beds with softer mattresses. We have had a wonderful stay at Ard Choille. The property had everything we needed for a week and the sunroom boasted beautiful views which were ever changing due to the weather in Skye.
We had a lovely, peaceful time, surrounded with all possible conveniences. Only a ‘Welcome Pack’ might have made it even better.
We found the house without any problems. It’s in a lovely quiet spot with good views over the sea. We had a couple of questions which were answered very quickly. Everything worked - usually something doesn’t work at holiday rentals but not this time! The beach is only 5 mins away & we left plenty of exploring for another visit. We did have a power cut but it wasn’t anything to do with the property & I think if you’re aware then you’d cope. All in all, a lovely place to stay.
We had a great stay at Alderburn. The cottage was perfect for our small group of family and friends and we definitely hope to make it back soon.
We have been to the Taobh na Mara for the fifth time and are still thrilled. Everything is perfect: Cottage, view, location, atmosphere! It's our 40th holiday in Scotland and we have been to many cottages. Nothing compares to this one. Add to that the light on the Isle of Skye is fantastic. We plan to return.

Beautiful location with stunning scenery. The house was very well presented and very clean. We very much appreciated the eggs etc. Wish there was a dishwasher, which there was room for. The timer settings on the hot water hot water heating system need adjusting as we had a few cool showers at 7.30am.

What a wonderful cottage for my spouse and I to spend 5 nights and be able to enjoy all the bounties of Skye! The owners have thought of everything you might need to make your stay comfortable. The view from the sitting room window might cause you to never leave your seat, but DO leave it! Whether on foot or by car, there are things to do all around the cottage and you can return to your cozy, wee house to rest and rejuvenate until your next sojourn!
We were 2 couples staying for a week with our little dog. Both couples have experience of booking a stay in this type of property and have often been disappointed. In Joan's House we definitely weren't. To say the final single track road is a challenging drive for people that are not used to such roads would be an understatement, but it was soooooo worth it. We stayed 3 nights at An Caladh and simply loved out stay. The cottage felt very much like home, with beautiful and simple decor, very comfortable living room with Netflix access that allowed us to just "chill" in comfort, stocked and ready-to-light wood fireplace, and clean and functional bathroom. Our group of six spent three nights in Portree and stayed at the Tarradale Cottage. Absolutey LOVED IT! We didn't have a car, so we walked to the town square for dinner each night and it was a lovely walk with sidewalks the whole way. The view at the cottage is stunning! We had a problem with the toilet in one of the bedrooms, but they had it fixed promptly. I would stay there again if I ever get back there.
We had a wonderful two weeks in this beautiful place (we have stayed at Ord before but not in this chalet). Like many of the reviewers, we can sing the praises of the chalet and its facilities but, as one reviewer mentioned, the mattress on the double bed really does need replacing (we had to “pad it” to make it possible to sleep without chronic backache!). We spent a wonderful week of family vacation on the Isle of Skye, and one of the main reasons why every single one of us loved it so much was the amazing Ploughman’s Cottage. Tigh Anndra is a beautifully equipped cottage for a couple. We have been twice and just love the wilderness of the cottage, just sweeping views of the mountains. It is a special place for us, watching the swallows fly and the sheep come and go across from the moor. There is a handy bus service that can get you to Portree and Uig. We liked the lack of wifi. It gave us time to truly disconnect. Thank you Angus for our stay.
We had a wonderful holiday in this cottage and on Skye! We felt very comfortable in this cozy and warm place and enjoyed the stunning view each day (seals were dancing ballet right next to the shore). Due to storm we couldn't leave the island as planned, but IHC/Lisa and David helped out immediately so that we could stay a an additional night. THX - we recommend this one! Felix
Tidal cottage is a lovely place to stay for a few days, very peaceful. We saw otters in front of the cottage on a nightly basis.
This was a perfect place to stay when visiting the Isle of Skye. The location is central, very close to Portree for shopping and restaurants, and all of Skye’s attractions are easily reached by car. The accommodations and amenities were excellent, especially the glorious deep tub and rainfall shower after a long day of hiking! There were thoughtful touches throughout, such as a collection of games upstairs, and the binoculars beside the chair in the living room, perfect for taking in the amazing views. A very good and quietly located accommodation with beautiful views and only a 10-minute walk from the centre of Portree. The cottage is very well equipped, we felt very comfortable there. One small drawback: you can smell that it is heated with oil. Nevertheless, we would definitely book there again on our next trip to Skye.

The house was in a stunning location. It was clean. However, the washing machine was not working. Could do with oven gloves and tea towels! Some new chopping boards and wooden spoons, as they were in poor condition.

Old School in Dunan is the perfect place to stay on the Isle of Skye if you want to spend a day at every wonderful spot and also go back for a second experience. Some of us went over to Lewis while others rested in the cottage. We had two weeks of unbelievable sunshine, spent a day in Inverness and another in Eilean Donan Castle, went twice to the Old Man of Storr, found some secret spots with no other tourists, loved Dunvegan and the gardens of Armadale, plus the railway museum at the Kyle. A perfect cottage for a family stay. Three good bedrooms. Well equipted kitchen We noticed the washing machine outflow had a leak (washing our walking clothes) and emailed admin. Within 6 hours of the email ( which was acknowledged immediately) a charming, competent plumber had already visited and fixed it! We were very impressed. Thank you Plocton is a gem.
Check-in was smooth. Communication with the rental company was easy and quick. The apartment is nice and clean and serves as a good base for excursions. The kitchen is quite sparsely equipped, and the heaters are rather loud because there's a lot of air in the system. As a result, they are not very efficient in heating. The beds are very comfortable. We had a good time in the accommodation. We especially loved the loggia due to the beautiful view.
Location and view is very good. Cottage is cozy. Could be better: the couches are very low, the masterbed is very small, towels provided are not enough for a longer stay. We stayed 10 nights, had one small towel in the bathroom for all and two too big towels per person provided. When you wash yourself, it will need three days to dry (even in the summer). At first look it was clean. At second look (our dog played with his ball) it could be better to be honest. But there is a dust absorber in the utility room... Not easy to find after leaving the main road; directions could be improved. Steep path and steps down to cottage, not suitable for infants or the infirm. One storage heater switch not working, Velux blind in bedroom faulty. Leak under lavatory cistern. A few items could usefully be added to the kitchen. Dead insects inside one duvet cover. But: clean inside, warm, good views. I imagine tenants do not report faults so they are not rectified.
We had a wonderful stay at Sorley’s house, spotlessly clean with gorgeous views in the perfect location for us (away from the main busy areas but close enough by car to everything we wanted to see/do). We had everything we needed for our long weekend, including all the tools and utensils in the kitchen required for some simple home cooked meals. Appreciated that it was dog friendly! The only thing that we didn’t have but would have been great was a wee fan in the bedroom as we were lucky enough to have nice warm weather so if anyone planning to visit feels the heat it might be worth packing ...more
We had an excellent time, we are a family of 5 and everyone loved it, kids sighed when we told them there was no TV but they never got bored. We played loads of board games that are provided, and with a vey quiet beach 2 minutes walk away, it was ideal. The cottage has everything we needed and very spacious. This house is spacious very well equipped and vert convenient to all the amenities in the centre of Portree. the house was spotlessly clean on our arrival and we found the house very cosy and comfortable. instructions for use of appliances including the TV were clear and concise and even accompanied by photographs. off street parking is an added bonus. all in all a very good experience.
The cottage was ideal for our family group of 4 adults and 2 children - we had plenty of space and it had everything we needed. The location was great and we enjoyed being able to walk over to Staffin beach. Also convenient for the amenities of Portree. Handy local shop and community restaurant which we would also recommend. The main improvement would be a second shower in the other bathroom. We may be interested in returning in 2027!
Entrance light didnt work, so arriving in the dark was interesting, we changed the bulb but a number still do not work and need replacing. The Kitchen is in a poor state of repair, extractor hood doesn't work so windows need to be open all the time, door under the sink is hanging off, only 3 wine glasses for a house that can hold easily 6 people, no pint glasses at all, also oniy one 1 frying pan!! It states by the fire that wood is available in the outside box, this is incorrect. We really enjoyed our stay at the old post office. The cottage is spacious, clean and comfortable a favourite space of ours was the upstairs lounge- a quiet peaceful place to read a book. The views from the windows are stunning! A few small things to make the stay even better: - it would be great if the main bedroom was a king or super king bed - we found it difficult to find the cottage- a sign on the main road would have been useful -on our last day we found the walk down to the beach from the property (it was very overgrown) some information about this would have been useful in the ...more

It's a perfectly nice cottage as long as you know what you are renting. It isn't like a hotel or B&B, but more akin to borrowing someone's house. So it comes with plenty of instructions for use and check-out. For example, all trash needs to be collected from bathrooms and rooms to centralized bins, and there is no glass recycling at the property so you'll need to take glass with you or find somewhere else to recycle. They have amenities like firewood and dish/laundry soap, but no toiletries (no shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, etc). Note there are also two gates that need to be opened...more
Great stay. My only deduction of points for the comfort was the sofas in the lounge, whilst good, one had the unfortunate habit of sliding down on the seats!
Overall great property - loved the location within walking distance to downtown Portree and having a bathroom off of each bedroom was amazing. The house was very cute and worked well for our group of 6.
We had a lovely week staying in the cottage. It had everything we needed, including a very useful dryer for when the weather was a bit damp! The enclosed garden was excellent for our energetic dog, with a wonderful view across the water to the next peninsula. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for us all. Very nice modernised cottage surrounded by sheep next to a flowing brook and a view of the Loch. Parking for 1 vehicle. Only disappointment is there is No Wardrobes in either bedroom.
De woonkamer in het huisje was ruim genoeg en netjes. De bank was niet comfortabel. Er zaten stangen in en dit zat niet lekker. Helaas was het bed in de slaapkamer veels te krap en te kort. Het matras was te zacht en helemaal ingezakt. In de douche kon je niet normaal rechtop douche omdat het plafond te laag was. Het was snel vochtig in het huisje.
A comfortable cottage in a stunning location. I stayed on my own and felt very ‘at home’. All windows look out onto a beautiful view. No shop nearby so need to stock up first (I didn’t have transport, but that’s another story!) . There is however a delightful cafe close by with excellent soup and cake. Very well equipped and very prompt and helpful reply from the housekeeper. For me, could do with an anti-slip mat in the bath/shower. I would definitely recommend and come again.
Easy to find and lovely and warm Beds were basic but comfortable if quilts a little small. Windows at front of property seem to have dropped a little and let a draft in and you can see outside however I reported this to the company dealing with the stay along with a damp wall in the double bed room. The views are spectacular from the house if the red cuillins. Very handy position to explore that area . We enjoyed our stay very much.
The property was as described. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and well prepared for us. The location was amazing and provided a quiet but accessible spot from which to tour the island.
The cottage is nice and clean. Everything looks very new. The location is a little bit out of the way, but this is fine if you will be exploring anyway. My slight complaint was that there was no soap products to use the dishwasher or the washing machine. Also, the stove is a relatively new induction, and unfortunately someone bought a new cheap aluminium frying pan which cannot be used on this stove. Little details like these detract from the otherwise great experience.

A comfortable and well-appointed cottage on the quiet and out of the way Sleat peninsula. The beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent. The booking process and getting the key etc was straightforward and everything went without a hitch. The location is beautiful although the weather when we were there was appalling, so we unfortunately weren't able to make the most of our visit. Fortunately the house was a cosy and quiet refuge to retreat to when the gales and rain were lashing outside. Nice location . Loads of space inside with everything you needed . Could do with outside seating , one old flaky bench at the front door , grass overgrown and an old fridge freezer outside not nice to look at. Would have been very piecfull if it weren’t for the 2 dogs constantly barking next door.
My wife and I stayed at the School House for a week. It was quite easy to find, the drive can be a bit tricky but I found reversing onto the parking area worked well. The house was lovely very clean, tidy and warm. The location on Loch Na Cairidh was fantastic. The hedge is a bit high but sitting on the garden table gave the view over and there is always the direct access to the loch side from the garden. The place oozed history with the original wooden floors and stairs. Plenty of pots etc for guest use and everything we needed. Thanks

Lochside is a beautiful property in a stunning location, and under normal circumstances it could have been a wonderful stay for our family. Unfortunately, during our visit there was a 10+ hour power outage affecting the whole area. While I understand that the weather event was beyond the owner’s control, there was no emergency backup option (such as alternative heating or cooking provision), and the handling afterwards was disappointing.
