Very high quality accommodation in a peaceful, tranquil setting with generous, friendly hosts who can’t do enough for you.
We had a wonderful holiday and rest recharged our batteries we are coming back in October and can’t wait
Our family of five stayed here for a week and really enjoyed this well located, quality accommodation in the heart of the countryside. Great beaches nearby which we enjoyed during the fabulous weather we had. The gym and spa proved popular with all the family. Would definitely recommend. Thankyou to David for showing us around and John at Island Escapes for their professional service.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This delightful cottage is set in a fabulous and quirky garden and surrounded by peaceful countryside. The house is is beautifully presented, is well equipped and has everything you need for a perfect stay. Excellent walking from the front door and the owners provide information on a range of walks to suit all levels of experience. A generous and unusual welcome pack awaits you on arrival and welcome you with full access to their expansive garden
Lovely accommodation would definitely return ,the hosts were friendly and not intrusive ,everything you needed was there my home from home
Close Taggart cottages are rightly renowned as a wonderful place to stay on the Isle of Man. John and Shirley, who own the cottages (and live next door) have put considerable effort into ensuring everything is perfect. The cottage has a comfortable bedroom, a separate study (with books and binoculars), a lounge, and kitchen. The kitchen is fully-fitted, with a helpful list of facilities and utensils that meet the Manx standard for self-catering accommodation. The welcome pack included bread, eggs, cheese, butter, jam, chocolates, as well as tea and coffee and Manxie the cat (who gets to leave ...more
Beautiful bungalow in fantastic condition and fantastic location, had a fantastic week and have already booked to go back next year loved it. This was my second booking with island escapes and will be an annual event with this level of accommodation and service many thanks.
What a wonderful place to stay hopefully will be back everything was so well run and friendly with no exception.
The Stables at Glendown Farm proved to be an ideal 'Home from Home' retreat for for us, it is ideally located and beautifully appointed.
We watched this house being built while over on the Isle of Man on previous visits, never guessing it would be a Holliday let, so when we came across it on the Island Escapes web site we jumped at the chance to stay, it didn’t disappoint, the location, the house and its contents are all top quality. We loved our 4 day visit, so much we have rebooked it again. We ate in every night albeit from local take always, Chunty Mary Indian, La Gusto Italian and Port Erin Chippy, all of which we also recommend. It was just like being in a nice restaurant every night without the traveling. You wake u...more
We had 4 nights here, right in the centre of Castletown, a great location. We are 2 couples, there is plenty of room, the bedrooms and bathrooms are very comfortable. This is a very well appointed house, everything is perfect, high end quality. The kitchen has everything and more. Parking is at the back of the building, no problem at all. All in all a great place to stay. AAA+
The house was beautiful, loved the layout , decor and what a view! Everything was in the house that we needed. The dogs enjoyed the walks along the waters. Wonderful.
We have holidayed many times on the Isle of Man and in many ways this was the best yet! Packet House was tastefully and luxuriously presented making it a very special place to stay. It’s very reassuring to know that the staff at Island Escapes are based locally and are at hand to help with any queries. The wonderful location was the icing on the cake! We have already booked for next year and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Packet House as a fantastic place to stay!
After such a long period of restrictions here in the north of England and being prohibited from visiting our daughter, her husband and our grandchildren for 16 months we needed this holiday to be fabulous and it was. The property and the location are beautiful. Our party comprised 4 adults and 2 under 5's and our only slight negative was that as the kitchen and living room were upstairs, we could have done with a safety gate at the top of the wooden staircase. That aside we could hardly fault the place.
Ballarhennie is a fantastic place for an escape in a beautiful location - hill views on one side and the sea on the other. There’s plenty of space for 6 people and the table tennis and pool tables are great for filling in the rainy days. It’s a 5 minute walk to the beach and the sunsets are amazing. Keep an eye out for the bats at sunset. Would highly recommend it, but don’t tell too many people as we’d love to come back soon.
We had a lovely staycation and look forward to doing it again soon. Place was clean and well kept and great location. Must say that for anyone with mobility issues the stairs are quite steep. Loved it.
Well appointed house for all amenities in town. Comfortable and clean property and spacious enough for 8 people.
A wonderful oasis , we celebrated our 20 years wedding anniversary at this beautiful, immaculate, welcoming cottage— worth every penny. The hosts left us a thoughtful gift and card, lovely touch. Views of the beach amazing and the little terrace at the side of property gave even better ! Couldn’t want for more even managed a few sea swims . Location and parking perfect . Thank you
Tides Reach is a lovely compact modern apartment with beautifully tiled floors in central area of Port St Mary. Within easy reach of good restaurants and a very nice, friendly pub,The Albert just down the road. Very quiet even though it is situated near the main road. There is a nice seating patio area outside if staying in the warmer weather and a very useful rotary line if you wanted to do any washing. A very short walk down the alley way to the really pretty quayside, and if able to continue there is access to lots of beautiful Coastal walks. Ideal for couples to have a little get away t...more
Very comfortable and spacious accommodation, good parking ,well equipped kitchen. DVD player or sat tv would have been good.
The tower is a wonderful place and managed to have everything we needed for a week. Getting to know the Andersons made it invaluable. Would totally recommend.
Very clean & well supplied with kitchen utensils. A bit out of the way but peaceful & scenic. Excellent eatery the Colby Glen Inn 5mins away
Thie Fuinnee is a lovely holiday house with plenty of room and accommodation. Positives: - Spacious with modern facilities. - Three bathrooms, two with full bath and one with shower. - Good location near to Port St Mary harbour and coastline. - Excellent customer service (the heating would not come on, but this was sorted the same day by Island Escapes). Not so positives: - There is really only parking for one car in front of the property. If you take more than one vehicle, be prepared to park on the road. - WiFi is a bit hit and miss. - Comfortable seating in the living room for ...more
A truly stunning property well presented with great quality furniture, fittings and everything we needed to enjoy our visit to the Island. Extremely spacious and comfortable for 5 adults, warm and tastefully decorated. Great location to reach everywhere we wanted to visit, but a short hop and a skip to the beach. Just fabulous and will definitely aim to stay here again on our next visit.
I would recommend Balladuke Farmhouse. It is spacious, clean and well equipped, with stunning views and ample parking. The owner, Elaine Taggart, lives nearby and is very friendly and helpful. Jack, the farm cat is so cute and super friendly. It was an deal location for our family birthday celebration with ages ranging from 12 to 85 years.
What a gorgeous place. A very high end finish. Obviously the highlight being the balcony but every room is thoughtfully furnished to a high spec and spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable after busy days sightseeing and a few provisions left in the kitchen for our arrival were very welcome. Wish we’d had longer to appreciate all the facilities. Easy booking and entry to the property. The car sat nav took us the wrong way with the post code for 15mins though google maps on my phone sorted us out. A great stay
The Rowans is a nice comfortable cottage that is full of character, with everything you could possibly need for your get-away. We would happily stay there again. There was only 2 of us but the cottage has 2 downstairs bed rooms and 2 upstairs 'loft' bedrooms all very nicely decorated. The cottage is ideally situated across the road from the Mitre Pub and on the TT course.
A delightful location and a smart, well equipped cottage. Although we had problems with the television we had prompt help to replace the broken dish. There was little to fault. The instructions to reach the cottage needed a little more detail for the last quarter of a mile and the kitchen equipment would benefit from a few extra items. We would be very pleased to return to Quay Cottage in future years.
The Stables is fantastic accommodation if you are looking for accommodation including disabled facilities. The property is large, everyone has their own bedroom and shower room, it is quiet and cosy and there is a working farm! It is located just outside of Peel, a nice seaside resort. The property is close to the coast path for walking, there is ample and easy parking, the farm has animals to meet and watch, places of interest are within easy reach - an ideal base to explore the island. The owners are friendly and accommodating. All in all a brilliant place to stay.
It’s a lovely thatched cottage, two minutes walk from the beach but in a very quiet area so it’s great for walks and just getting away from it all whilst still being within easy driving distance of eating places for the evening. Nicely furnished with good kitchen and bathroom facilities and an outside building which is a great vantage point to view the exceptionally dark sky with hardly any noticeable light in the vicinity.
A stunning location and a house for all seasons. Well equipped, very comfortable and cosy. Highly recommended
We had a lovely 4 night stay at Maggies. We were met by Phil, Fliss, chickens, ducks and the 2 well behaved dogs. The cottage had everything we needed for a short stay. The bed was comfortable and the shower was powerful. The wi-fi was excellent, fast and reliable. There are plenty of different walks from the farm and it was handy to pop into The Hawthorn or The Crosby while on our walks. We would highly recommend.
Lovely accommodation in a peaceful, rural setting with lovely views. Great place to switch off and unwind.
The house is furnished and maintained to a very high standard and we were delighted with it.. I have given a four for location only because I would have liked a sea view, but it is very accessible to the shops and sea front. Parking is perfect and off road. It is very quiet. We mainly cooked for ourselves, and another serving/oven proof dish would be useful as well as more cutlery, especially knives. Not a major issue. We had a lovely time
A very pleasant stay at Golf View Apartment. It was very clean & well equipped. Appreciated the welcome food pack as we arrived @ 7pm. In a great location opp the golf club with fab views towards Bradda. Would definitely stay here again.
We live in Douglas and had a 3-night "staycation" in the apartment at Close Vark Farmhouse in Andreas (22 miles away) in September 2021. The apartment was very large; modern; clean; well decorated; light and had all that we needed for the stay. It also has a large balcony with good views and the area is very peaceful. We had meals at The Grosvenor (the local pub, about 1.5 miles away) and Vellika's (the Indian restaurant in Ramsey, about 5 miles away) - both were excellent. We visited the Wildlife Park and the IOM Motor Museum - both were interesting and enjoyable. We also visited Jurby ...more
Great Central location to explore Castletown, close to shops and restaurants. Also great to have an allocated parking space. House is spacious and has good facilities; we stayed as a group of 6 (4 adults and 2 children) and the layout/bedroom arrangement worked perfectly for us. On the whole the house was very tidy and clean however there was areas of significant dust under the beds.
Well furnished, 2 minutes from beach and shops. Would happily stay there again. Clear directions and our first breakfast provided.
Fiona & John are excellent hosts on this busy working farm. The Byre is a comfortable and cosy property with fantastic views in a quiet location. Ideal for restful breaks and active holidays alike with great walks on the doorstep. Highly recommend a visit in any of the Knockaloe Beg accommodations.
West View was an absolutely idea spot for our stay on the Isle of Man. The property is lovely and set in superb, secluded gardens whilst being just a few minutes walk from many activities. An excellent base for exploring the island. The owner was extremely helpful. We did have some difficulty finding it in the dark when we first arrived (we don't have sat-nav or such like). Some idea of distance from the traffic lights would have helped and also some mention of the gates may have aided our search especially when three people we asked had no idea where it was! Altogether though we loved it an...more
We stayed here in June 2020 and were unable ti sue the oven s it was so dirty. this time much cleaner. Overall we enjoyed the accommodation, with a couple of small point: The cushions on the sofas need cleaning and one was torn at the seam. The mats in the two bedrooms need either replacing or deep cleaning as they were quite grubby. One morning we had no hot water or heating, this was fixed by the owners in record time, plumber arrived within a few hours of our request. We wish the grass had been cut sow e could have made more us elf the outside area, it was very ,long and obviously at t...more
An unusual property with it's colonial style balcony and rooftop room with 360 degree views, many hours spent up there with a good book and glass of wine enjoying the views of Port Erin beach, promenade and the majestic Bradda Head. There is a very well fitted out kitchen, pleasant dining room with patio doors on to the balcony, two decent sized bedrooms and a good sized shower room. The seating in the lounge however is in need of an upgrade, the sofa is uncomfortable and the chairs not much better. The back of the house is a sun trap and very secluded, this is accessed from the kitchen by a d...more
Great little cottage with a nice conservatory. Beautiful lounge. The washer/dryer was useful as well!
We had a lovely summer staycation at The Whitehouse. The weather wasn’t great but that didn’t stop us getting out on the beaches and surrounding area. The house is in a great location with views of fields, hills and sea from different windows around the house. The house was well furnished with a lovely lawned garden, great for kids! Would highly recommend staying at The Whitehouse.
We had a very relaxing week in the above Staycation and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. It is in a quiet location in Port Erin with wonderful views. The accommodation had everything we needed. The owners were nearby and were very pleasant and helpful. The views from the lounge( upstairs) were splendid. It overlooked fields and a Golf course. I believe one needs a car to visit all the local Beauty spots, sites and restaurants. The Isle of Man was a most lovely Island and the people were so friendly and polite. Reminiscent of the U.K. in the sixties. We had lots to do. The Island has so much...more
Everything generally very good/excellent but slightly let down by cooking arrangements. Not everyone is familiar with cooking on an Aga and the alternative cooking facilities are inconveniently situated and inadequate. Sporadic wifi.
Great location and amazing views of Peel bay and castle. The apartment was super comfortable and spacious. Heating was really easy to regulate. I slept really well in a very comfortable bed. Great shower and towels.
A well appointed, well located apartment with some unusual quirks. Unlike many self-catering holiday lets, there were no staple comestibles provided. By this I mean, no tea, no coffee, no sugar. The salt & pepper pots were empty. While there were plenty of cups & saucers, there were only two mugs, which meant frequent washing up for guests who prefer their beverage from a mug. No teaspoons were found, but sundae spoons! There were plenty of chopsticks available for the oriental guests, but one wonders how many such guests use this property. No tablespoons for serving food, which might be expec...more
Like setee stylebut a bit low for older guests, needs more filling. Single quilts to narrow, small, kept falling off, ok child but adult not so good.
The property had a very pungent smell of moth balls. The bath was very deep and this combined with the stairs made it more difficult for older guests
Tiny cottage, good location, parking difficult. The garden could do with a bit of weeding & tidying up.
This is a lovely property to stay in. It’s spacious, light and perfect for a family. The beds were comfortable, the house is well stocked and there are lots of games and dvds. The garden is secure and a great size, we used the outdoor table for evening meals on the summer nights. There were a few things that could be improved: Generally the house appeared clean. However, the floors could be cleaner, white socks turned black! It would be great to have a washing line or clothes airer to avoid using the tumble dryer/radiators when possible. The hot water was not great, we followed the ins...more
A great holiday home close to an excellent beach and walking distance to the shops and steam train. Ample kitchen facilities including a washer and drier. Could just do with some garden furniture to enable the family to relax in the garden together.
Excellent location in Laxey with great views across the bay. Unfortunately, the cottage itself is rather poor quality with many aspects clearly done on the cheap side. Including the conservatory that was cold in August!!!!!! This is a shame given the location, views and good communications from Island Escapes.
Lovely little cottage in a very good location close to Douglas Promenade. Only downside is parking, property has a dedicated parking space but every evening another vehicle was parked in it meaning we had to park some distance from the property.
Location good for the beach, public transport connections, and restaurants. The sofa is very comfortable and kitchen fairly well equipped but no scissors found. Some light bulbs need changing and sink tap in bathroom needs serious attention. Beds were comfortable and the welcome pack of bread and milk etc was a nice touch. The lights are controlled by remotes which were a little difficult to navigate and the switch in master bedroom was hanging off the wall. Overall a comfortable stay but the flat needs a little tlc. TV instructions would also be handy.
