We hired Hexham house as a family. We had exclusive use of the 7 apartments. All apartments were beautiful & individual. We particularly appreciated the goody bag with local produce & the milk & Prosecco left in the fridge. Hexham House is in a fabulous location right in the centre of Hexham with bars shops & restaurants on the doorstep. We would highly recommend & will definitely be back in the future.

We stayed in the treehouse for three nights and loved it! Wish we could have stayed for longer. Its a peaceful location. You can only hear the wind or rain landing on the roof. Its very romantic with a gorgeous bathtub and very comfy bed. We were there in winter and its well insulated and warm. I think it would be even more lovely in summer because there are a lot of outdoor seating spaces to take advantage of in good weather. I hired West Grange Hall for my 30th birthday weekend and it was perfect. Exactly like the pictures. Each room was more beautiful than the pictures online. The space was perfect for the 20 capacity. We all managed to fit in each room, afternoon tea in the lounge, yoga in the library, dinner on the Saturday evening in the main dining room. Sam was very gracious and polite about an issue that arouse and sorted it with me directly quickly, efficiently and with understanding. The cottage is just lovely, it has quality furnishings, the design of the lay out is excellent. The first floor was ideal for socialising and every room had a toilet closeby. We were 3 couples and this was very important. The cottage was decorated tastefully for Christmas and the welcome pack was a lovely surprise.
I know Hexham well, so knew the building and its' location prior to booking. The flat is super, comfortable and practical. Great to have a washing machine. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need utensils etc; It was great to have a welcome pack with tea, coffee, biscuits. The bed is really comfortable. Only a slight hitch with the shower head which had been forced and risked breaking if I changed the height, when I informed Sam she came and adjusted the height for me on the same day on which I contacted her. I cannot begin to say how happy we were to find Beaufront Castle. we needed a base for a large family gathering and Sam from Wooden Star could not have been more helpful. The Castle itself was an immense pleasure, as well as being comfortable and giving us the space we needed it was beautiful and full of quirky historical momentos. How such an old building was kept so comfortably warm is a miracle, and for those who appreciate such fabulous old buildings I could not recommend it more. The modern kitchen facilities allowed us to self cater for the whole gathering easily. Thank you.
Our second visit and as good as the first. Great facilities with a room and en-suite each and plenty of room for socialising, cooking and eating together. Couple of points: The downstairs toilet in Steadings 2 doesn’t flush properly. Heaters in The Byers 1 & 2 need attention as not all were working. Mirrors in bedrooms for hair drying etc would be helpful. We loved it again. And we even got the dark skies too!
This was our second visit to Fieldhead and won’t be our last, absolutely stunning location, comfiest bed ever and so cosy. My Labrador absolutely loves it here also. Booking again ASAP!
Lovely, comfortable,clean and warm cottage in rural location. The (very) nearby Boe Rigg campsite and restaurant was closed which was great from a light pollution perspective. A large patio area to set up the telescope on and great dark skys. Super customer service from Wooden Star Cottages.

Having stayed in holiday lets many times, this the best so far. From the links to the property to the decor and furnishings, it was all slick and efficient. Parking a bonus and location spot on for Hexham and district. I appreciated that I could lower heat and the gift package is thoughtful.
Everything required for a comfortable stay. Even a slow cooker, and set of kitchen scales so I was able to do some baking.

We had a wonderful stay at the Steadings. The interlinked houses were absolutely brilliant and made it so easy to bring both families together while still having our own space. The setup was perfect for spending quality time together, and everything was comfortable and well thought out. Highly recommended for families looking to stay close and make great memories.
We stayed 20 days in this lovely appartment, one bedroom with a very comfortable bed, good shower room and an open plan dining, living, kitchen space. It is a large square so eminently practical and elegant. Views to the park are beautiful and the Abbey beyond a huge plus. Listening to the bells was so special when they were in use....not often!!! The kitchen is large, everything is there. We will definitely come back to this appartment.
This little place was perfect for the two of us to easily access the Kielder Forest, Cheviots and of course Bellingham with the lovely “Lunch” coffee shop!
We had a wonderful stay in apartment 3. The accommodation was impeccably clean with excellent facilities. The bed was very comfortable with a lovely view over the gardens. Hexham itself is a lovely market town and we travelled a lot in the area visiting Holy Island, Bamburgh and Whitley Bay. It was a fabulous break and we hope to visit again in the future. We would highly recommend staying here.
It’s been our pleasure to stay in this Fabulous Accommodation. Everything you need for a home away from home and great location being very central. Parking has been fine with permit given for your stay. Internally, the presentation is very tasteful and immaculately clean.
Most comfortable cottage. Lovely beds, sweet sitting room, large, flexible kitchen. Great location for exploring the area.
These cottages and the barn were perfect for our wedding. Sam and Vicky were brilliant in helping us with our queries and we were delighted with how it all went in the day. It is in a beautiful location and all of the rooms and surrounding outdoor spaces were perfect for us and our guests.
Stayed at the Studio for two nights to attend a nearby wedding - would love to come back to explore the area. The apartment has everything we needed and is really clean and comfortable, ideal for two people. Lovely quiet location in beautiful countryside.
Huge reception areas providing flexible accommodation for a far flung family reunion. Excellent as the central meeting point for others renting nearby. Great location with dramatic views but close enough to shops and "civilisation ".
We had a wonderful festive long weekend at 2 the steadings in the Xmas hols. The surroundings are just beautiful with the countryside on your doorstep and not too far some lovely pubs in Bellingham. The property was immaculate, comfortable and had everything we needed (extra yay for coffee pod machine), plus very much good value. Close to Kielder where we went to see Santa at winter wonderland with our little boy. Also has the most lovely gift / art shop just next door, with beautiful items. We had a wonderful stay at The Coach House — it’s in the perfect location for exploring Kielder and the surrounding area. We were lucky with the weather, which meant we could enjoy some lovely long walks and visits to local pubs. The large walled garden was a real highlight, giving both our 10-year-old and our dog plenty of safe space to run free and make the most of it. The cottage itself was gorgeous — a truly perfect spot to relax, switch off and simply stop and stare!
This was our second stay at Shellbraes, and won't be our last. It is a truly lovely farmhouse, very well equipped and very comfortable. The beds are amazing, with top quality bedding. There is lots to do in the local area, with some fabulous walks also. I highly recommend Shellbraes for a get together with friends or family.
Booked for a short stay as we needed some peace and quiet. The property was ideal and the location excellent. Trouble is my wife now wants to buy the property, but I had to point out not wasn't for sale. We will definitely be booking with this site again. David
No 2 The Byre was a wonderful quiet place to stay with my dog Norman. The accommodation had everything we needed and was peaceful and secure. Would definitely stay again.
The Stables is a very comfortable cottage in a great location. It was very peaceful and we looked forward to seeing the sheep and ducks when we opened the curtains each morning. It is within 30 minute drive of a number of Hadrian Wall attractions and Hexham which was worth a visit. The Welcome bag from Wooden Star Cottages was a nice surprise.
What a gorgeous cottage! It’s super spacious and decorated so nicely. The hot tub and sauna are a great addition to the lovely garden and the location is perfect for getting into the national park or to the coast!
Our 3rd stay here, booking all 3 barns for a family weekend. Well equipped, comfortable and very clean. In a lovely private, peaceful location with lovely walks. Would highly recommend. Wooden star cottages only a phone call away if needed.
