We hired Hexham house as a family. We had exclusive use of the 7 apartments. All apartments were beautiful & individual. We particularly appreciated the goody bag with local produce & the milk & Prosecco left in the fridge. Hexham House is in a fabulous location right in the centre of Hexham with bars shops & restaurants on the doorstep. We would highly recommend & will definitely be back in the future.

There were three generations of us staying at the church to celebrate a 40th birthday so ranging in age from 8 months to 73 years. The facilities provided were excellent, the kitchen was well equipped and enormous! It was nice having the seating areas upstairs as well as downstairs because while we were cooking and preparing meals everyone could be involved. We booked Weat Grange Hall to celebrate my 50th birthday with family, it couldn’t have been a more perfect venue. Fully equipped for large parties and a stunning property to boot, with excellent customer service from Wooden Star Cottages team. We will definitely be back (but hopefully for a longer stay).
The tree house is definitely a quirky place to stay . Set in glorious woodlands away from everyone else . Well equipped , though more storage would be useful in the bedroom for t.shirts and underwear etc as no drawers just a wardrobe to hang clothes . The super king sized bed was really comfortable and the free standing bath a luxurious treat . Overall we enjoyed our stay , very tranquil .

It's truly difficult to put into words how incredible our stay at Beaufront was. We spent the easter break there to celebrate my husband's 70th birthday with our three children, their and partners and six grandchildren and were blessed with glorious weather. Sam from Wooden Star could not have been more helpful ensuring that we had cots and highchairs, allowing us to arrive early and leave late and being in regular touch to ensure that our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Absolutely loved everything about Farriers cottage, the amenities, decor and very handy and spacious laundry/ mudroom on ground floor was perfect for pushchair, shoes and jackets. The cottage is cosy, comfortable and practical for 3 couples and a toddler. Central location in lovely Hexham, walk to the park, river, shops, restaurants and train station.
If you need some chill out time in the most beautiful surroundings then Fieldhead is the best place. Very comfortable and clean. We had the best few days enhanced by great weather, take walking boots, books and wine !!
Our second visit and as good as the first. Great facilities with a room and en-suite each and plenty of room for socialising, cooking and eating together. Couple of points: The downstairs toilet in Steadings 2 doesn’t flush properly. Heaters in The Byers 1 & 2 need attention as not all were working. Mirrors in bedrooms for hair drying etc would be helpful. We loved it again. And we even got the dark skies too!
The house was as beautiful as the photos suggested. The facilities were excellent and we had everything that we needed for a wonderful stay. The quiet and beauty of the area were spectacular and we really felt that we were surrounded by nature, birdsong and a wildness that we rarely encounter in the busy south. Thank you to the owners for allowing us to use this historic property.
Hexham House is conveniently positioned in the centre of Hexham in close proximity to shops and restaurants. The parking permit was so useful when local roads have parking restrictions. The apartment, which is accessed by 31 steps, is very well equipped and has a lovely dining and seating area in the kitchen. There are useful cleaning materials in the kitchen and soap, shampoo and shower gel in the compact bathroom. Access into the shower is about 40cms and the mantle piece in the bedroom restricts the space on the left side of the bed. These points were not too much of an issue for us but ma...more
Lovely, comfortable,clean and warm cottage in rural location. The (very) nearby Boe Rigg campsite and restaurant was closed which was great from a light pollution perspective. A large patio area to set up the telescope on and great dark skys. Super customer service from Wooden Star Cottages.
Perfect cosy flat for exploring Hadrian's Wall, Hexham and Newcastle. This is an ideal base from which to walk Hadrian's Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle using public transport (buses and trains) to get to/from start/end points each day. The accommodation is clean, tidy and had all we needed, providing the option to either eat in or at one of the many excellent Hexham pubs and restaurants, literally on the doorstep. And less than 5 minutes from the excellent Hexham Sourdough bakery! Loved our week in Apartment 2!
We have stayed in a Wooden Star Cottage before and this was definitely as good! The accommodation is wonderful, practical and fitted us, our daughters, husbands and grandchildren with ease for a week of family fun. We will be back next year!
Perfect location - how can it get any better than waking up to church bells ringing in Hexham Abbey and one can see it from your bed - perfect. Watched the bowling from our windows and then we walked down to the clubhouse below in the beautiful gardens.
Everything required for a comfortable stay. Even a slow cooker, and set of kitchen scales so I was able to do some baking.
It was our second visit. We first visited at the end of March and absolutely fell in love with this place. It honestly couldn’t have been more perfect. The location is amazing and makes a perfect base for exploring Northumberland and all the beautiful places nearby. The Byres themselves are fantastic – very comfortable, beautifully done, and have everything you need, including a bedroom, ensuite bathroom, and a lovely living room with kitchen area. A spacious comfortable flat perfectly situated in the centre of town. We very much enjoyed exploring the town and visiting the Wall. Wooden Star were receptive, flexible and helpful with our arrangements for checking in and out.

These cottages and the barn were perfect for our wedding. Sam and Vicky were brilliant in helping us with our queries and we were delighted with how it all went in the day. It is in a beautiful location and all of the rooms and surrounding outdoor spaces were perfect for us and our guests.
We had the most lovely time at Drum Barn. The property felt so homely and friendly that we really didn't want to leave. We stayed at the cottage as we had a weekend wedding nearby in Otterburn. Lovely cottage for the 4 of us. Beautiful location. Ideal having 2 en-suite bedrooms whilst getting ready for the wedding. Would stay again and spend more time exploring the area.

The house was completely beautiful. We loved the decorations and the way it felt like a home home instead of a holiday stay. The local area had loads of charm, and we were really lucky to be there while all the little lambs were out in the neighboring fields, which made the stay feel even more magic. The house extremely attentive and fixed a minor issue within a very short amount of time. I celebrated in milestone birthday here and it really really made it special. Thank you!

An excellent property in a lovely location. Very peaceful and quiet with great views all round. Charlton Gate had everything we needed for a week away with our dog. Lots to see and do around Kielder but there are also other woodland and riverside walks within a few minutes drive of the cottage. We will definitely be looking for a chance to stay here again.
We stayed at Bastle House for a short break. The property is unique and has been sustainably renovated in keeping with its history. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. The downside was the bedroom which has little in the way of window coverage so if you need a dark room in which to sleep this is not for you (eye masks were provided but these are not for everybody)
The accommodation was excellent with 3 king size en-suite bedrooms, a modern fully equipped kitchen & comfortable Lounge/dining room. Plenty of off road parking space. The cottage was located adjacent to a farmhouse in a stunningly beautiful quiet countryside setting, approx 3/4 of a mile from the main road down a single carriageway tarmac road with vehicle passing points. Thankfully we never met another vehicle whilst entering or exiting the accommodation. West Grange is such a perfect little spot for a getaway. The house is in immaculate condition, it is a fantastic space with everything you could want. Book shelf loaded, a hot tub and a sauna and very clear direction on usage. The place was spotless on arrival. They had a really good kitchen set up which made cooking every day very easy. A lovely welcome package on arrival was another lovely touch. Lots of lovely spots locally if you want to explore. We had a truly wonderful stay and hope to come back!
We loved everything about The Hayloft. It was perfect for our stay as a family with all the home comforts we were looking for and with the open spaces and area around the property a real bonus for the younger ones.The compromise is having to drive into town but you have everything on your doorstep and the house is perfectly located for visiting so many places in Northumberland.
