The last time we stayed in this property our eldest son was 16. We returned with this son (nearing 40)his partner and their 4 year old daughter. Many walks swims in the sea and pool. The donkeys were out in Yarmouth and the snails are still going round and round! A good time was had by all
Winterton is a very quiet little village with a beautiful outlook across the dunes to the sea. These quiet little round houses are perfect for a couple to enjoy peace and quiet and time to recharge. We booked for a week and as we have been here for several years now, we knew the routine, arrival after 3.00pm on the first day and depart by 9.00a.m. after a great week. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay , the weather changed just in time with 4 days of sunshine . Everything just as described , a good place to bring the dogs who loved the beach . A great get away from everything! ☀️
I love coming to Hermanus and have stayed in most of the houses. The house has a well stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and sofa and is in a perfect location and dog friendly. Its short walk to the beach, the pub and the cafe/local shop. My only request would be a coat hook or two.
Highly recommend this place its little gem. The restaurant serves best food. Great value and everything is yummy highly recommend waffles the beach is clean and great spot we definitely will be returning.
It would have been better had we been able to go to a games room on the wet days . As sometimes we needed something else to occupy us.
Back for 3rd time at October half term. Chalet good and comfortable. Love the out look with green space for kids to play.

We booked this as this is where my friends were staying, but I’m highly disappointed. Check in was fine and the place seemed nice enough, not much space. They tell you bring your own towels but they don’t event provide you with soap to wash your hands. I parked in the lay-by outside my friend hut as the staff said they could. Came to find after 3 hours, they had a stuck a ‘parking fine’ sticker on my window. We were in the house so they could’ve knocked but they have now left residue on my window and not even an apology. Our stay was fantastic, the round house was really lovely and the bed was extremely comfortable, the location was perfect and the beach was lovely and sandy. The only thing that was a little annoying was the TV reception but everything else was amazing. Will definitely rebook.
Stayed previously at this roundhouse location and views are good staff helpful ideal should you want a peaceful break

We had a great 3 night stay great walk on beach good food in the club house, in the local town is Poppy’s tearoom excellent service there as well as the local pub
The accommodation is very good, very clean, and spacious. The site is very well maintained. The recent works along the dunes area has improved the views towards the beach and dunes. The local village is easy to walk to, with good facilities. The Hermanus staff are alway cheerful and happy to help with any enquiry. The bar food is served to a very high quality, and a good selection of drinks available to accompany the meal. Overall a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable stay. If you're thinking of staying here, book it, if you don't you'll wish you had.
Lovley views, but was a bad smell of damp in round house, and pillows were very hard, but there was everything you need for self catering. ,
First time for us to stay in October, just as enjoyable as our August visits. The weather was good to us not as cold or wet as we were expecting. Easy access across the dunes to the beach. Short walk along the beach to see the Seals. Stayed in "Breezes" bungalow, kitchen well equipped. All staff friendly and helpful as always, we will return it's such a relaxing place,
We’ve just had a lovely 4 day break in a roundhouse. Excellent location. Very well equipped for self catering. Fabulous walks on the dunes and the beach. Our 16 month jack russell loved it - will definitely rebook

Zephyrs was a beautiful, well maintained, unique cottage in a peaceful setting on the Hermanus Holidays site. The accommodation was surprisingly spacious and the furniture and fittings were spotless and comfortable it was a nice touch that tea/coffee/milk, washing up liquid and sponges and loo roll were already in the cottage - very useful when you first arrive! The outside area was well maintained, making it a safe, pleasant area for my granddaughter to play. We first came to Hermanus Holidays in 1978 and visited many times as a family over the years. In the earlier years there was evening entertainment The past 7 years it has been my daughter and my dog, first 4 years in a roundhouse but changed to chalet 51 as it has 2 bedrooms. It is nice and relaxing and the Highwayman serves great food too. If you want a variation there is Fishermans Returna pub in the village and a good fish and chip shop. Great walks on the dunes with the dog and there is a outdoor heated pool which was still open on the second week in September
We are lucky to be quite regular visitors at Hermanus Winterton. It is so relaxing from arrival to departure. (Though we hate leaving, we know we will soon be back!) The accommodation has a clear view over the dunes to the sea, and easy access to both on foot. The swimming pool is an added bonus this time of year. Ivan’s team are all welcoming, so helpful, polite and excellent within their individual rolls. Beautiful little round house's Beautiful area. Im not sure if our round house has stood empty for a long time but it was extremely damp in the bedroom and smelt very fusty so needed windows open to try clear smell while it was very cold outside. I placed one pillow on the floor as two was to much to pick it up the next morning and it was covered it pubic hairs very unpleasant indeed so the carpets hadn't been hoovered. We just both felt it wasn't clean No fault to the actual little house area or facilities.. the cleaning company need to do there job. Hopefully if we return the experience ...more
We had an excellent time at Winterton-on-Sea. Location was perfect with only a few minutes walk to the charming village where we took advantage of the pub, tea rooms and fish & chip shop! We found also many other nice places to visit all within a relatively short drive. The double roundhouse was clean and comfortable with plenty of room for all 4 of us plus our dogs. One small point was that one of our party is a wheelchair user - for part of the time not all of the time. The roundhouse is really small, but also quite charming. Its location, virtually on the beach, is brilliant and the park itself is really quiet. You have everything you need, and all was in good working order- the shower head could have been better, but it worked okay. Parking was close by and the Roundhouse was warm and clean and perfect for a two night stay.
We booked to go to Hermanus in June but unfortunately my wife broke her hip. Hermanus kindly let us take the booking later in the year, when she recovered. It was a lovely relaxing holiday and we could take our dog. Staff are always ready to help.
This is the second time we have stayed here. Again the accommodation was great. We where visiting relatives near by so it was ideal for us.
We are regulars. We love bringing our GSD + to stay. The beach is very close. Properties are clean.....................................................
The chalet was nice and clean when we arrived and it was comfortable to stay in. It is close to the beach and there are plenty of nice walks near by.
Lovely location nicely spaced out. quickly dealt with tap (not flowing) efficiently. impressed that they contacted us as we were delayed arriving, need to update T&C as only said notify if late, out of main season. small things to make stay even better - a bit of washing up liquid and soap, the towel package was very good quality towels. I will be back again and have recommended to a friend already.
I have been coming here for 50 years, firstly with my parents and now with my children and friends. The location can not be beaten and just relaxing through walking through the village and the beach is wonderful. It's lovely having the pool for the kids and the space for them to run around and play. The accommodation is so much better since the refurbishments which is great; for me the quality is so much better and more comfortable to stay. Comfortable accommodation provided in a fantastic location. However, very disappointed the bar was shut at lunchtimes.
As we have been visitors to Hermanus for over 30 years, everything as usual was excellent. Unfortunately this time we had to leave early due to a family emergency but we will make sure we come back later on in the year. We have always owned a dog and Hermanus and Winterton are the ideal place to stay and visit as everywhere is so dog friendly! Hermanus is our “happy place” and we can’t wait to come back (especially Teddy the dog)!!
We stay at Hermanus every year. The location is perfect and the staff could not be nicer. The accommodation is very comfortable with great views over the local countryside with fantastic walks just outside the door. A great relaxing stay. Can't wait to return next year.
The tap.on the shower was very difficult to move on any direction , think it needs some upgrading or maintenance at least
We have stayed here quite a few times over the years and we love it! As like everywhere else, it's not cheap, but they've done a great job with the refurbishment of the bungalow. The site was peaceful and the restaurant was amazing. We decided to eat there most nights and the food was delicious. I'm pretty sure we will be back!!!
What a wonderful relaxing location for a half term break. Comfortable accommodation, friendly staff and incredible food at The Highwayman.
