Absolutely loved this cottage, and the location. A little piece of heaven. It's close to so many beautiful hikes, little museums, and the perfect getaway from the city life. Interior: Can't complain about a thing! The cottage decor is beautiful. The kitchen is well-stocked, having a washing machine is incredibly useful. Everything you need for your visit to the majestic Isle of Skye. Exterior: For visitors not familiar with croft/farm stays (including me), the cottage is set within a working farm, so, after you enter the first gate, you'll be (carefully) driving through sheep to get...more
We absolutely LOVED our stay at Taigh Cill Chriosd in July this year. There were three couples travelling together, and it was perfect for this group. It was fully equipped, and we didn't find a single thing that we wanted or needed that the cottage didn't have. The beds were comfortable, and it was impeccably clean. The cottage was a short drive outside of the village, with a beautiful view of a little loch.
Great location in Portree with groceries, restaurants, and shops right there. We were able to explore the island in all directions, and then enjoyed coming back to relax at the end of the day. It's also walking distance to the start of the Scorrybreac path with its gorgeous views. Having a parking spot right across the street was great. The house is on the main road with a lot of people stopping across the street to take photos of the view of the harbor, but it was surprisingly quiet inside the house, so we didn't notice, and we had the bonus of seeing the gorgeous and picturesque view of the ...more
We had a lovely time in this comfortable and spacius house. We would love to come back and will recommand this accomodation to our friends.
Big window in lounge provided great views across bay to harbour while sipping a cuppa or glass of wine. Cottage well located for day tripping around island. Appreciated the starter pack complete with a nice bottle of wine. One of our best stays in Scotland.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Daisy Cottage. It is in a convenient location, allowing for easy day trips to popular locations on the northern side of Skye. The views from the cottage are spectacular and we spent a fair bit of time just enjoying the sights and watching the birds that frequented the water's edge. The cottage also had everything we needed for a comfortable stay - in particular, we were especially appreciative of the two air fryers on the property, which we used to heat up our leftover fish and chips from the Filling Station just up the road (which we'd also recommend...more
Outstanding property in a not to be beaten location. Magnificent views. Very comfortable, well equipped and dog friendly. We would love to return.
Very comfortable house, in a spectacular position overlooking Staffin Bay. Well equipped kitchen, good utility room for drying wet coats, boots etc!
Fairy Glen Cottage is ideally positioned for exploring the Isle of Skye; not far to go to Portree and Dunvegan and in easy walking distance to fairy glen. The cottage is exceptionally well-kept, clean and, like its owner Alex, welcoming. We love it and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Wish it could have been longer...
The Mill was a very comfortable and clean place to stay. The property is very good equipped and has a good location to explore the Isle of Skye.
We felt very comfortable in Ruadh. We were given such a warm welcome by our landlord that we felt like family. The house was in perfect condition, clean, warm and cozy. We saw deer in the evening and rabbits in front of our house in the morning. We felt like it was our home. Our landlord was very friendly and available at any time. We love this house!
We loved our stay at Cnoc a'Chonasg. The underfloor heating made it a lovely and warm, and the kitchen/diner/living room is really bright with all the windows giving great views. We'd love to come back to Skye and stay again.
We were a group of 8 people. Everything worked perfectly, from check in to check out. The beds were comfortable and the house was modern and clean. Nice views from all bedrooms. Thank you!
We had an absolutely superb stay at Taigh na Laige. The cottage itself is so comfortable and made very cosy by the log burner. A full kitchen, large bathroom with an excellent shower, extremely comfortable bed and lounge area and then there's the view...what a delight to wake up to every morning! We were blessed with some decent weather and saw some lovely sunsets as we enjoyed cooking on the BBQ. Lovely touches with a bottle of prosecco and chocolates left for us, made our stay even more special. I must also mention the linen, the towels and sheets were a delight, so soft! There are also...more
Our second visit - very comfortable with lovely stylish touches. Everything we needed. Garden is beautiful and still maturing and developing. The outdoor facilities are as good as indoors with pizza oven and fire pit. The electric charging point was an added bonus for us. The pulley too is an added feature for those wetter days! The beds are super kings in the “double rooms”. Our only slightly picky comment is that the fitted sheets appear too small for the super king. Also a nice touch would be extra wide pillows to better fit the super king! Bathrooms are very well appointed. Kitch...more
Very clean, well-equipped, spacious and cosy appartment in a wooden hut. Wonderful quiet garden. Easy self check-in. Walking distance to the town and harbour of Portree. Very lovely and helpful owners next door.
We have had a wonderful stay at Ard Choille. The property had everything we needed for a week and the sunroom boasted beautiful views which were ever changing due to the weather in Skye.
The cottage felt like a home from home but in a superb location, having stayed in many cottages Finnans Byre stood out as easily the best..
Cottage was really clean and had everything we needed during our stay. The sun-room was extremely comfortable and we spent many hours reading and watching the weather unfold on the bay/mountains. The sunsets from this room were awesome. The owner lives nearby and is very helpful. The relatively central location is perfect for exploring the rest of Skye. Very peaceful location with beach 5 mins walk away. We had an amazingly relaxing time and hope to return to the cottage again in the future.
We have been to the Taobh na Mara for the fifth time and are still thrilled. Everything is perfect: Cottage, view, location, atmosphere! It's our 40th holiday in Scotland and we have been to many cottages. Nothing compares to this one. Add to that the light on the Isle of Skye is fantastic. We plan to return.
The view from the house was amazing of the harbor. The 4 rooms each had an on-suite, with showers and very well done. Kitchen, dining, and family area worked great with everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. We had a great time!
We were a group of five and the house was perfect for us. Large, well equipped kitchen, lovely views and a small garden. Easy to get to and find. We will be back :-)!
Tucked away in a very quiet village, this is an ideal base for getting round Skye . It had everything we needed and was very comfortable, with modern fittings and a fantastic view over the loch at the front. Shops in Portree are a 30 minute drive away, there is a pub next door.
Lovely chalet, lovely position. Well equipped and comfortable. only drawback is lack of enclosed garden for dog owners. We had a relaxing stay.
An Caladh is a very well-equipped cottage to a high standard. The views all round are outstanding, especially to Macleods Tables to the west. The cottage has wild moorland all round it and we particularly liked the profusion of wild spotted and butterfly orchids within the garden fence, as well as the wild birds to watch, such as local short-eared owl. The best walk nearby is to Harlosh headland for some wonderful sea views. Also Dunvegan, the tidal island of Oronsay and the coral beaches are not very far away. Overall we enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful week exploring the NW part of Skye a...more
Excellent all around. Surrounded by amazing views. Very clean and the perfect size for four people to stay in
Our group of six spent three nights in Portree and stayed at the Tarradale Cottage. Absolutey LOVED IT! We didn't have a car, so we walked to the town square for dinner each night and it was a lovely walk with sidewalks the whole way. The view at the cottage is stunning! We had a problem with the toilet in one of the bedrooms, but they had it fixed promptly. I would stay there again if I ever get back there.
Absolute beautiful and spacious cottage. Large kitchen with all equipment provided. All spotless. Living room, bedrooms, bathroom all spacious and modern furnished. The cottage has a beautiful view on the surroundings. Central place to explore the West part of Skye
Just stayed last Monday to Friday 2/9 to 6/9 and the property was excellent bedrooms very good size and the lounge/kitchen open plan and very spacious. The location was brilliant for visiting parts of the Island we wanted to go to. Would 100% recommend this little gem of a place.
Tigh Anndra is a beautifully equipped cottage for a couple. We have been twice and just love the wilderness of the cottage, just sweeping views of the mountains. It is a special place for us, watching the swallows fly and the sheep come and go across from the moor. There is a handy bus service that can get you to Portree and Uig. We liked the lack of wifi. It gave us time to truly disconnect. Thank you Angus for our stay.
Tidal cottage is a lovely place to stay for a few days, very peaceful. We saw otters in front of the cottage on a nightly basis.
A very spacious and clean bungalow, with wonderful views, and lovely and private. Lacking in cosiness and warmth though, would be cold in the winter months, and needs a lot of TLC. Wardrobe door broken. Curtains are poorly hung, TV very poor, tried everything, even bought new batteries for the remote, but very difficult to get to work and then find channels. Internet drops a lot and have to keep rebooting the box, but thats not the bungalows fault. Enjoyed our stay here but.. It could be the prefect place, just needs some 'touches' and work
Everything was even better than we hoped. All items in the cottage worked. The view was outstanding and the location allowed for easy travel all around the island.
We had a wonderful week on Skye staying at the Steading. The setting and views are absolutely fabulous. The house is well equipped and comfortable. If there was one thing to make it even more so, I would request larger bath towels. Plenty of places to visit and we had a very good meal at The School House. All together a very special holiday and I’m sure we will visit again.
This is an absolutely beautiful house, spotlessly clean and has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. The view from the breakfast table is amazing and whilst we didn’t get the weather to truly appreciate it, the scenery around is amazing. Within walking distance to a good beach and a brilliant little community cafe.
We loved our stay here! It was clean, well-located, had a beautiful view, and professionally run. Everything was clear, easy to manage, and very comfortable. Would certainly recommend it as a good option to anyone looking for a place to stay on Skye!
We loved our stay here. Views are stunning. Close to town (but narrow and dangerous roads to walk especially at night). Peaceful quiet relaxing lovely. 12 people were quite comfortable. But there are key details that the owners avoid that are essential. No coffee grounds. No soap or shampoo. No dishwasher soap. I confirmed with the owner that this is “not their problem”. It’s so trivial but important when you’re traveling. Although it’s incredibly wasteful, be sure to pick it up in Portree before you come to dunvegan.
We had a great stay at 9 Achnacloich, the cottage was perfectly clean and very well equipped with all mod cons. It is in an excellent location with beautiful views, the photos don't do it justice. Large well equipped kitchen with large dining table and couches to enjoy the lovely view, and small extremely cosy lounge with log burner to enjoy a glass of wine. Will definitely return to this wonderful cottage.
We had a great time in the cottage! The owner is very friendly and accommodating, and the property is perfect for two people. The location couldn't be better, either -- just a short 5-10 minute walk to all the stores and restaurants in Portree, and being there means that even the farthest places on the island are within an hour's drive. I honestly cannot think of a single negative thing to say about the whole experience.
Really enjoyed our stay at the Old School cottage. Lots of space, high quality furniture, very clean, great showers. Lovely location looking across the water, and great location for exploring Skye to the north and south.
A quiet picturesque location. Comfortable cottage. More wardrobe space would be helpful. On the whole a fantastic place to holiday.
Check-in was smooth. Communication with the rental company was easy and quick. The apartment is nice and clean and serves as a good base for excursions. The kitchen is quite sparsely equipped, and the heaters are rather loud because there's a lot of air in the system. As a result, they are not very efficient in heating. The beds are very comfortable. We had a good time in the accommodation. We especially loved the loggia due to the beautiful view.
Smaller than we expected from the online photos. Needs hooks on the back of the bathroom door and bedroom doors and more storage in the kitchen. The kitchen would also benefit from having somewhere to hang a hand towel & tea towel. Luckily we bought an extra quilt each to put on top of the mattresses as a previous review said they weren't very comfortable so that didn't cause any problems, We found the settees hard to get up from as they were very low but that's an age thing. We were very lucky to have amazing weather for the time of year but potholes were horrendous which was a big problem ...more
Not easy to find after leaving the main road; directions could be improved. Steep path and steps down to cottage, not suitable for infants or the infirm. One storage heater switch not working, Velux blind in bedroom faulty. Leak under lavatory cistern. A few items could usefully be added to the kitchen. Dead insects inside one duvet cover. But: clean inside, warm, good views. I imagine tenants do not report faults so they are not rectified.
This little duplex was perfect for all of our needs while on Skye. While I noticed that it was located close to the water, it wasn’t clear that we actually had an idyllic view of the coast from the windows, not to mention being a quick 15 minute drive to the Quiraing. Very happy with this place, and would love to come back!
Our group had a wonderful week in Keepers Cottage, which had everything we needed for a happy holiday. It is well equipped, and has great space for people and dogs, with easy access to Staffin beach.
A very well equipped appartment near the center of Portree. A good selection of games and literature about Skye is also provided.
A lovely cottage with all you need included. Perfect living room and kitchen, we really felt at home very much. A very nice garden and terrace and a narrow view to Loch Slapin.
The house was very spacious, in a very quiet environment. It was very clean, only the kitchen could use a little bit more attention. Close to Portree and shopping opportunities (7 minutes by car), great place to explore Donvegan area, Fairy Glen or the Quiraing. The owner was always easy to reach and took great care of our issues and questions - thank you!
Florrie's is a very comfortable holiday home. A lovely bed, a beautiful bathroom, a comfortable sofa, a well-equipped kitchen, a beautiful view over the bay and also a garden. Very cosy!
We found Ewen's House to be a great value and excellent out-of-the-way base of operations for exploring the Trotternish area, with just a superb view of the Quiraing right out the front window. But do not make the same mistake I did and overlook the fact that there is no WiFi (if you need WiFi). The property manager(s) are very helpful/responsive to any questions/problems that might arise.
We had a lovely week staying in the cottage. It had everything we needed, including a very useful dryer for when the weather was a bit damp! The enclosed garden was excellent for our energetic dog, with a wonderful view across the water to the next peninsula. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for us all. The location might be a little remote for some people, but we really appreciated the peace and quiet, when the rest of the island was busy with summer visitors. There are good walks from the door, and excellent tea and cake at the Yurt Cafe just down the road. The owner ca...more
We had another fantastic stay at 21 upper, we are coming here for years and never get bored of the beautiful views and cosy feeling of the cottage. It has al the comfort and gives you a relax feeling. The only thing that I can comment is about the bathroom that really needs a update.
This was the perfect home base for our time on Skye! The kitchen was well equipped for the meals we made. We very much enjoyed the wood burner in the evenings, and the location was beautiful!
Thank you - a lovely and clean home in beautiful Torrin. Close to Broadford and Elgol and lots of walks, hills and beaches
We had an excellent week and saw most of the Island. There was a small problem with a tap and the television, and I contacted the property manager on the Saturday night. Unfortunately he did not seem particularly interested and didn't contact Islands & Highlands cottages until the Tuesday. Once Islands & Highlands Cottages were aware, the service was excellent. If anyone has an issue, contact Islands & Highland Cottages and not the property manager! The southern Sleat peninsular is spectacular and well worth a visit. Park at Aird and walk towards the Point of Sleat - there is a fantastic be...more
I have stayed many times at the Stationmaster's House but this is the first privately. Good accommodation and location.
This is a very comfortable modern house, well appointed with 3.5 bathrooms, 3 double bedrooms and a study/single room. It's well furnished and decorated in a slightly bland Highland style The location is good but the views are a bit limited especially when compared to other parts of Skye. There are some slightly over-complicated instructions for the rubbish - this should be taken care of by the cleaners/ owners. The only negative is the cost - it is very expensive for what it is.
Very comfy flat, in great location, very close to Staffin beach. It was just what we wanted, next door to Keeper’s Cottage.
The condition of the cottage needs maintenance. Doors en windows don't close or open properly. But the view and environment are breathtaking.we had a lovely week at Alt Slapin
A comfortable and well-appointed cottage on the quiet and out of the way Sleat peninsula. The beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent. The booking process and getting the key etc was straightforward and everything went without a hitch. The location is beautiful although the weather when we were there was appalling, so we unfortunately weren't able to make the most of our visit. Fortunately the house was a cosy and quiet refuge to retreat to when the gales and rain were lashing outside. The only negative was that the fireplace in the lounge smoked so much as to be no use and also...more
Nice location . Loads of space inside with everything you needed . Could do with outside seating , one old flaky bench at the front door , grass overgrown and an old fridge freezer outside not nice to look at. Would have been very piecfull if it weren’t for the 2 dogs constantly barking next door.
The cottage needs a renovation, especially for that price. Besides wonderful looks it is situated quite far away from the main areas of Sky. Just Dunvegan Castle is nearby.
Very tidy cottage, cozy living area, well equipped kitchen and serviceable bathroom. The location of the house by the water, while still just off the main road, means you get to enjoy the beautiful surrounding coastal landscape (with a great view of Scalpay to boot) all the while having no trouble getting back on the road to see the sights of Skye. A short (10 minute) drive to Broadford to get your shopping done and you can easily retreat back to the quiet of the cottage to settle down with a book on the comfortable couches. There are quite some DVDs for younger children available should the w...more
