Perfectly positioned property for exploring lymington. Has everything that you need, so handy that there was hand wash, washing up liquid, tea/ coffee and left a pint a milk in the fridge! The property was spotless and bed very comfortable! It's positioned right on the cobbles which is bustling in the summer months. Visited the isle of Wight, the nature reserve and many pubs in the village during my visit and certainly recommend smugglers retreat for a cosy place to stay.
We stayed here as a large family group of three generations. Everyone was enchanted by the character of the house, with all the quirky art, the fantastic main staircase and so much space. There are so many living rooms on the ground floor that it was easy for different groups to find their own quiet space when wanted. The kitchen/dining area was perfect for large sociable meals, and was very well equipped. The bedrooms were spacious and beds extremely comfortable, so much so I had to check out the brand of mattresses! The children enjoyed the playroom and the outside space, and the grownups ...more
A beautiful and well stocked home for a delightful stay in the New Forest. Every member of the family (baby, children, adults and dog) was considered in this property. A wonderful cupboard of children/baby toys and books. A welcome pack for both humans and dogs was a lovely touch. We loved watching the horses and cows walk past the front window. It’s a short walk to the local village where we found a lovely bakery, dog shop, tea rooms, Tesco express and fish and chip shop. There’s so much more there, but this is what we used. A superb stay in a place that felt home from home. Thank you! High...more
Had a fantastic week at Sea Biscuit in Lymington. Excellent property with everything needed, and perfectly located for wandering into Lymington itself and as base for exploring the new forest. Highly recommend. Family of 4, children grown-up
Had a fabulous relaxing 2 night stay at The Whistlestop. Shepherds hut was very comfortable and kitted out with everything you would need. Great location, a 10 minute walk to Brockenhurst which has a variety of pubs and restaurants.
The Swim Spa had a broken vent which we not informed about, and fearded we had caused the damage. The threat of fines we found most intimidating, while we realise that there will be guests that abuse the grounds and some parts of the house, this is a busisness that makes money. Saying that the property was very well maintained and we had good contact with New Forest Escapes. We very much enjoyed our stay and do recommend this to others.
An excellent base from which to explore the New Forest. Communication from New Forest Escapes was exemplary.
Everything one needs for a lovely holiday in the New Forest. So peaceful and quiet considering it was a bank holiday weekend Clean, comfortable and plenty of room for everyone
We had a very pleasant week at Treetops. Deceptively large, light airy rooms, all amenities and very nice welcome pack. Comfy beds. The outdoor space is especially pleasant with lots of trees and birds singing, front and back. The decking is enormous and a sun trap, great for sun bathing, relaxing, al fresco dining and barbecues. The owner (Vivek) was in contact before, during and after to make certain everything going smooth and with recommendations. The location is ideal for exploring the New Forest, visited Burley, Mudeford, Lymington and Poultons Park. All in all a great holiday, woul...more
We had a brilliant stay at Swallows Cottage. The house is in an excellent location, beautifully decorated and full of everything you could need for a great break.
Excellent, location is great, Saltwood was very clean and we had a great stay, we would highly recommend
Spacious, lovely house in a picturesque location. We enjoyed viewing the horses, donkeys and occasionally, cows from the living room window. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. The only thing we would have liked was a broom in addition to all the other cleaning equipment provided. The dining room feature wall showing a map of the local area was really interesting. We had a great holiday.
We were a party of three related families. The accommodation was wonderful and James gave us a warm friendly greeting on arrival. The location stunning where we were able to enjoy the local places of interest. The house was very comfortable and offered entertainment for children and adults. Would definitely recommend staying at Broombank if considering visiting the New Forest.
We had a wonderful stay at the Nook, unfortunately at the tail end of a heatwave. We were a little warm at night and were unable to operate the velux windows but this didn't really detract from our stay and I would recommend the Nook without hesitation. Everything was provided and the decor was beautiful. The little garden was also lovely. Location is fantastic, with loads to do and plenty of dining opportunities. The booking process was straightforward and the staff at New Forest Escapes could not have been more helpful.
High Tide is a stunning seafront house and is beautifully furnished with high quality, stylish equipment and accessories. Beautiful 'themed' cushions and pictures add a delightful finishing touch The upstairs lounge was perfect for our group of six, with an enormous comfortable sofa. There are also other 'cosy corners' to sit, including in the downstairs snug and at one end of the kitchen. We enjoyed a coffee on the large balcony on a sunny Sunday morning. The pool/air hockey table was fun and the sound system was great. You could just sit for hours looking out to sea. The bar was also a fun...more
Beautiful house. Spacious and everything you could possibly need. A real home from home. We know the area very well and the location was great for Lymington and the coast. Parking was fine, we worked it out between us using the car parks close by.
We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful house, it exceeded expectations. We will be back :)
Beautiful property, clean and well equipped. Comfortable beds and sofas. Having blinds behind the curtains was a much appreciated extra for getting a holiday lay in with the kids! Perfect location in the peace of the forest. Stunning garden just perfect for sitting in and listening to the birds and the wind in the trees. Great to have the laundry room too. Would love to stay again ❤️
Gorgeous stylish house with everything you need (and more) for a very relaxing break. Very comfortable beds, excellent shower and bathroom, superbly equipped kitchen/diner, lovely garden and BBQ - what more to say! Everything sparkling clean too. Shops including a good Waitrose and town centre on the doorstep and not far to beaches or forest walks. Restaurants and pubs nearby but we preferred using the garden and dining facilities to go out much in the evening!
Stylish and comfortable property - the owners provided some nice extras which were much appreciated.
We only stayed at Captains Keep for 2 nights, but would love to have stayed longer to fully appreciate the lovely house and the garden, with its amazing garden room. The house is very well equipped, with good quality furnishings and very comfortable beds. The living areas are set up well with spacious, practical, social seating. The only reason I have rated it 4 out of 5 stars for value for money, is due to the later check-in time of 4pm and the early check-out time. We had to be out by 10am, which spoilt having breakfast together, due to the rush in packing up and clearing everything out. An...more
The accommodation was beautiful, clean and well presented l. The location was excellent and very close to town. A fantastic place to stay in!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could not have enjoyed better weather. We had a problem with an out of date CO/Gas alarm two nights running which I reported to Claire. I did feel that the accommodation was overburdened with instruction notices - 17 in the kitchen alone! It gives the impression that the owners think that their guests are really stupid as the majority of notices are common sense. Despite the fantastic weather we did not sit outside once because there was no shade provided on either terrace. We appreciate that the sea breeze could be a problem but pointless having fac...more
The holiday home far exceeded our expectations. Comfort, views, proximity to the sea and amenities. Service from the management team was excellent, the electric kettle stopped working. Rang them and half hour later very nice lady arrived with a new kettle.
The house was excellent in every aspect except the gardens which looked unattended and left to nature. I know the house is in the New Forest but I would have liked a little more of a welcoming garden, maybe a few flowers and weeds dealt with. Other than that we thought it was a beautiful house.
Need comfy chairs downstairs as not always wanted to go upstairs to sit comfortably. Well supplied kitchen. Beautiful surroundings. Loved the birds!
Such a gorgeous cottage and fantastic garden! Plenty of room for 3 our generations of family. Very clean and well presented with lots of activities for the children. It was very comfortable. Brilliant games room with table tennis and the children loved playing badminton. They hardly watched TV! The hot tub was huge and a hit, such a treat! It was very hot when we stayed so the fan in the bedroom was much appreicated. The cottage even has a gym. We had a such a lovely holiday making memories that will last forever. Such a special place.
Large luxury house in lovely location for everything Bournemouth has to offer. Nearest beach is particularly good for families too. Host was always helpful & contactable.
A lovely modern cottage in a nice village with great facilities. Well kept and spacious within 15 minutes of the coast. We would highly recommend.
Moo cottage (and annexe) is in a very pretty remote condition. Gardens and house were nice and modern but could do with a deep clean, tidy up and some gardening. Property was just starting to look a little tired. Was just in need of a clean to remove bugs (which you do get being rural and near a farm), a weed and tidy up in the garden to prune some overgrown plants near table and some fixing works to loose pavers and bricks. Overall was nice but bed downstairs too soft and duvet was far too thick for summer use. Bins outside were full (not big enough) of previous guests rubbish as was glass ...more
We booked Little Nye alongside the main house Nye Creek. It was perfect extra space with easy access to the garden / hot tub / dining. Worth knowing that it is very close to the main house if you are booking separately. The bathroom for the main house is directly above Little Nye’s bedroom. Running showers and flushing toilets are quite loud. The bed in Little Nye is quite low and the bed is very firm. Very comfortable pillows and bedding. As a self-contained space, Little Nye has everything you need. Perfect location for the forest and the coast.
Fantastic location for exploring the local area and visiting New Forest, Isle of Wight and Milford on Sea. Beautiful area and great for bird watching. House was lovely and had everything you needed. Really nice garden too.
From this charming modernised cottage cook in or enjoy delicious food in the Gun Inn pub. Nearby try the cafes in Milford on Sea, take trips to Hurst Castle, Isle of Wight, the New Forest and more
This was just right for our family group. Well-equipped. Well placed for short, level walks by the elderly and infirm but with longer options for the younger and fitter. However, my son-in-law, who is somewhat disabled , and I, age 92, had some accessibility problems particularly with the staircase. The handrail is too wide to be held securely. It would help to have an additional second handrail of a smaller diameter which could be fully grasped. It would also help if one of the upstairs toilets was adjacent to a wall to which a grab rail could be fixed, to help with sitting and standing...more
Excellent house for family break. Amazing facilities and a fantastic location. New Forest Escapes amazing service as always.
Large well presented house in Lymington. Decent sized rooms with very large and airy main kitchen / living space. Lots to love about the property. Quiet location. Spacious house. Good furniture. Plenty of room. Some minor quibbles. The front bedroom needs a better blind to keep out the light. The kitchen needs a drainer to put washing up (and a decent kettle that pours properly). And the garden could do with a dining area and table. But overall it is a good property and well worth considering.
Cozy and uniquely decorated home. The dining area and outside under the magnolia tree were our favourite spots to hang out as a family. Good facilities in the kitchen and laundry room annd the en-suite is a good size. Easy access to local shops, pubs and restaurants. We missed having a secure storage area for bikes and the driveway was a tight fit for our large SUV. We will return - loved the location and house.
We enjoyed the house very much . Just a few constructive comments for your information . Instructions for the appliances would have been helpful especially the cooker and hob !! Little Nye bed is quite hard and low . The glasses were of a poor quality and broke easily when drying or when placed into the washing up bowl . We appreciated the extras .. towels for outside , grocery basics and cake . Games etc .. The property was very clean on arrival . Thankyou !
We had a wonderful stay at Gins Barn. The peaceful location by the Solent made for a truly relaxing break, and the interior decorated in a cosy country style with distinctive artwork added charm and character. It was ideal for our multigenerational group of four adults and one child. A couple of small touches could further elevate the experience: the outdoor furniture is quite weathered and could do with replacing, and the courtyard garden would benefit from some maintenance. Highlights of our stay included enjoying the grass tennis court, crabbing off the jetty, and visits from the frie...more
Wood Haven is a really beautiful house situated in a quiet road about 5minute drive from Lyndhurst and a 5 minute walk to open Forest. The house itself is very spacious, beautifully designed and very well equipped (although it could do with a tumble dryer!). The sofas and beds are dreamy - so soft and comfy! The garden is pretty and we enjoyed bar-b-q’s in the evenings. The library was full of books, board games and children’s toys which all the family enjoyed. New Forest Escapes were very quick to help when we needed anything. We were there for 3 weeks, and were very sad to leave. We will ...more
This was the perfect size property for 4 adults, 2 children and a 4 month old baby! We had the best time and created the best memories. Donna was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions promptly. We couldn't have asked for anymore!
Rowes Cottage is a peaceful well situated home from which to explore this beautiful area, or just relax in the quiet garden. My daughter was very grateful to gain permission to play the piano in the cottage. To make the place perfect and gain 5 stars all round, a blind or something on the kitchen windows to keep out the afternoon/evening sun and a shelf for toiletries in the shower would be great. Thank you
This is our second visit to this property. It is a peaceful, quirky and spacious centre for grown ups and children to catch up with and entertain family, explore Sway and visit the wider New Forest area. The spacious cottage is well equipped with everything a family could need from comfy beds, garden space with BBQ and outdoor seating to chess and a wide range of indoor games. It is close to Jubilee fields and a short stroll from local shops.
We had a lovely time at Two Sides Cottage. Great size house and garden, and comfortably fit 8 of us. Lovely quiet location. You do need a car to get to places as rural location without any footpaths on the roads. The cottage had a really lovely feel to it and rustic charm. A highlight was hearing the owls at night and seeing a variety of birds in the morning.
A comfortable, well equipped and clean thatched cottage in a lovely setting. Nice enclosed garden, perfect for a dog. Highly recommendable.
No 24 has everything you need to make your stay in a beautiful part of the world perfect: Spacious, stylish, and close to anything and everything you'd want to do. We've stayed at No 24 twice now and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else!
We had a lovely stay at Nutshell Cottage. It’s a perfect base for day trips in and around the New Forest.
The property has well thought out facilities & a stylish decor but it is in desperate need of maintenance. The list of disappointing areas are extensive. Cleanliness - we could hear scuttling in the cavity walls each evening, we’re certain the property has mice and found what appeared to be mice droppings in one of the kitchen cupboards. The kitchen floors hadn’t been mopped, the floor under the outside dining area was filthy, underside of toilet seats stained yellow, frying pans that we hadn’t used smelt of fish, we’d little confidence that the cleanliness of the hot tub & pool water was be...more
The swimming pool was a lovely size in a lovely garden. We struggled with the downstairs bathroom shower which was low pressure and sometimes the power ceased altogether in the upstairs bathroom. There was an unsightly staining on the ceiling above the upstairs shower. There were not enough cereal bowls and dessert spoons for the 8 of us. The dishwasher filter was very dirty. The mugs on the shelf had unsightly tea stains which we had to hand wash to get clean. Generally felt that the bedroom curtains were rather dated and didn’t have blackout linings. It was very bright in the morning. The...more
We really loved our stay at Harbour View! We were a party of 9 (with 3 children) celebrating a big birthday and it was the ideal location to explore the surrounding New Forest. Nothing was too far away and we loved walking from the house into Lymington and the Ferryman pub just around the corner was a great spot for dinner one evening. The house is beautifully designed and the garden/hot tub were a real highlight. The bedrooms are all a good size and the kids room (and play room at the top of the house) were well equipped to entertain children for ages so we were very grateful for that! I wou...more
We enjoyed our stay and the cottage is well equipped and in a great location. Only negative the bedding had dog hairs and a few stains so wasn’t as clean as expected.
We came in August so prices are always very inflated, so maybe this is why I feel like the property was not good value. The beds were very creaky and uncomfortable and all the interior felt very dated. The property was cold and the sofas were also uncomfortable. It was a small place for a family of 5, but if there were fewer people it might be better - the bathroom was very small.
A beautiful mews style flat, right in the heart of the new Forrest, with open woodland immediately outside your front gate. No need to drive anywhere. The mews has a great feeling about it with a modern / rustic charm. Lots of details you may otherwise not get in a holiday cottage - the Nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods, wine in the fridge and even biscuits. Not to mention tea bags. These small touches made us feel very spoiled and cared for. The garden is enclosed so we could relax knowing our dog couldn’t escape. The only small gripe was we did find it cold early mornings and eveni...more
The Boat Shed was the perfect location for a few nights away - cosy, peaceful and well-designed, with beautiful walks right from the doorstep. We highly recommend it.
The location of Ashdale Cottage is lovely. The house and annexe could be better - we arrived to a blocked upstairs toilet with a plunger still in. The main upstairs bathroom hot tap was not working, this has clearly been an ongoing issue as there was a welcome card for a previous guest stating this issue (and that it would be fixed). The majority of beds were really uncomfortable especially the one above the kitchen (rock hard). The annexe smelt of damp so we chose not to use it. The main house smelt musty upstairs. There were dirty greasy oven dishes in the cupboard and the overall level ...more
