Perfectly positioned property for exploring lymington. Has everything that you need, so handy that there was hand wash, washing up liquid, tea/ coffee and left a pint a milk in the fridge! The property was spotless and bed very comfortable! It's positioned right on the cobbles which is bustling in the summer months. Visited the isle of Wight, the nature reserve and many pubs in the village during my visit and certainly recommend smugglers retreat for a cosy place to stay.
We enjoyed 2 weeks at Seabiscuit. It‘s a great place to spend your holidays and explore the New Forest, Dorset and Hampshire, e.g. Stonehenge, Salisbury, Winchester, Naval Dock Yard Portsmouth (HMS Victory, Mary Rose, submarines, etc), castles, beaches, Bovington Tank Museum, hikes in the New Forest, etc. The house offers lots of space, including a nice back yard and is very well equiped.
Had a fabulous relaxing 2 night stay at The Whistlestop. Shepherds hut was very comfortable and kitted out with everything you would need. Great location, a 10 minute walk to Brockenhurst which has a variety of pubs and restaurants.
High quality accommodation with amazing hot tub in large private garden. Gas BBQ and lots of seating options to dine inside and out. You can walk into Beaulieu but there is no pavement and the road can be busy. Deli in Beaulieu sells bread and pastries and there are pubs within walking distance. The new forest ponies and donkeys are gorgeous.
An excellent base from which to explore the New Forest. Communication from New Forest Escapes was exemplary.
We had a very pleasant week at Treetops. Deceptively large, light airy rooms, all amenities and very nice welcome pack. Comfy beds. The outdoor space is especially pleasant with lots of trees and birds singing, front and back. The decking is enormous and a sun trap, great for sun bathing, relaxing, al fresco dining and barbecues. The owner (Vivek) was in contact before, during and after to make certain everything going smooth and with recommendations. The location is ideal for exploring the New Forest, visited Burley, Mudeford, Lymington and Poultons Park. All in all a great holiday, woul...more
Great house, very comfortable, good parking and safe garden for the children. Only criticism was the state of the frying pans and baking trays - all very used and scratched.
Nutmeg House was perfect for our requirements. It is just a couple of minutes walk from the High street where there are lots of shops to explore and about 10 minutes from the Quayside. The house itself was comfortable with three double bedrooms for ourselves and our guests. The kitchen and lounge were well laid out and had plenty of room. One of the highlights was the private patio area just outside the lounge which was great for escaping the morning & eveing heat.
We loved our stay at Surrey Lodge. It felt like having a country house hotel to ourselves! It was in the perfect location to get out and explore the New Forest and was also an extremely comfortable base to relax in whatever the weather. The interior of the house perfectly matched the photos on the website but the location was even better than expected, with fantastic views and walks straight into the Forest from the doorstep. We would love to go back.
We were a party of three related families. The accommodation was wonderful and James gave us a warm friendly greeting on arrival. The location stunning where we were able to enjoy the local places of interest. The house was very comfortable and offered entertainment for children and adults. Would definitely recommend staying at Broombank if considering visiting the New Forest.
We had a wonderful stay at the Nook, unfortunately at the tail end of a heatwave. We were a little warm at night and were unable to operate the velux windows but this didn't really detract from our stay and I would recommend the Nook without hesitation. Everything was provided and the decor was beautiful. The little garden was also lovely. Location is fantastic, with loads to do and plenty of dining opportunities. The booking process was straightforward and the staff at New Forest Escapes could not have been more helpful.
Property was in great condition and high standard fixtures etc. Had everything we needed but could do with more detail on the equipment etc before arrival as, for example, the washing machine is only mentioned in a section on house rules. Great location just a few minutes walk from the beach and village centre. Plenty to do in the area for us and our adult kids. Contact with the owner was straightforward and lots of useful information in the property guide etc. A good holiday destination and very helpful hosts.
High Tide is a stunning seafront house and is beautifully furnished with high quality, stylish equipment and accessories. Beautiful 'themed' cushions and pictures add a delightful finishing touch The upstairs lounge was perfect for our group of six, with an enormous comfortable sofa. There are also other 'cosy corners' to sit, including in the downstairs snug and at one end of the kitchen. We enjoyed a coffee on the large balcony on a sunny Sunday morning. The pool/air hockey table was fun and the sound system was great. You could just sit for hours looking out to sea. The bar was also a fun...more
We had a lovely stay at Oak Lodge and it felt like real home from home with all you could need. It was clean on arrival with good welcome pack and a few essentials.Given it was summer though the duvets were very warm for the temperatures we thought. On the first couple of days the WiFi wasn’t really effective at all , so made it difficult for us with also no phone signal to keep in touch with family /work etc and check on internet for places to go and book etc. I know it’s the new forest but we have never experienced issues before. Fab outdoor space to relax and the hot tub was ess...more
Stayed at Moo Cottage with a couple of friends. The property is in a very tranquil location apart from there was a wedding at the Art Gallery down the road on the Saturday. The music didn't stop until 1am. We hadn't been informed beforehand which would have been courteous as it belongs to the same people. It is very tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable. We loved observing the guinea fowl. We suggested a few very minor things for improvements. Would recommend staying here.
We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful house, it exceeded expectations. We will be back :)
Had a lovely time at swallow cottage. Very well equipped and lovely and close to the sea. Nice long garden for the children to play in.
Gorgeous stylish house with everything you need (and more) for a very relaxing break. Very comfortable beds, excellent shower and bathroom, superbly equipped kitchen/diner, lovely garden and BBQ - what more to say! Everything sparkling clean too. Shops including a good Waitrose and town centre on the doorstep and not far to beaches or forest walks. Restaurants and pubs nearby but we preferred using the garden and dining facilities to go out much in the evening!
We enjoyed our stay at The Little Gate House, beautiful and clever design and ideal for the two of us . There was however, despite the cleaning and linen charges, evidence of dogs ,which was a shame. Also , frustrated not to have a bathroom shelf! There was no basic kitchen essentials such as kitchen roll, cling film or foil. No cloth for wiping down surfaces. These are just a few points that maybe could be used for improvement.
The accommodation was beautiful, clean and well presented l. The location was excellent and very close to town. A fantastic place to stay in!
Good furnishings and clean. Ideal location to access everything the town has to offer. Will happily return to this property.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and could not have enjoyed better weather. We had a problem with an out of date CO/Gas alarm two nights running which I reported to Claire. I did feel that the accommodation was overburdened with instruction notices - 17 in the kitchen alone! It gives the impression that the owners think that their guests are really stupid as the majority of notices are common sense. Despite the fantastic weather we did not sit outside once because there was no shade provided on either terrace. We appreciate that the sea breeze could be a problem but pointless having fac...more
Little thought given to basic functioning. Two pots and two drying clothes for eight people! No spare bedding or towels. Overpowering freshners everywhere. No instructions for anything so wasted time and couldn’t make fire work. NO CAR CHARGER just outside socket on different level needing 15 metre extension. Parking difficult. No response to my email from Forest Escapes afterwards. Great location just a sense of meanness with facilities.
We stayed here for 3 nights for a family get together celebration. The house was just ask photographed - ideal for a family group with 3 double bedrooms. The kitchen, dining, living room was fantastic, especially as it was a beautifully hot weekend and the doors were open the whole time. Very well equipped and we ate in as well as out at restaurants. Location was great with the town in one direction and the Marina in the other. Enjoyed the Saturday market and had a very good meal at The Swan Inn - booked on the decking for the evening - perfect! Even caught the Seafood Festival on Sunday ...more
The house was excellent in every aspect except the gardens which looked unattended and left to nature. I know the house is in the New Forest but I would have liked a little more of a welcoming garden, maybe a few flowers and weeds dealt with. Other than that we thought it was a beautiful house.
Highly recommend staying in this gorgeous home in the heart of the forest! The decor is stunning and such comfy beds with excellent bed linen! It really suited our family of 6 adults and a 2 year old! We had the shops, pubs and station within a few minutes walk yet had donkeys and horses regularly at the front gate! This home was a lucky find and a real gem! You won’t be disappointed! If you want quality, this is it!
A lovely modern cottage in a nice village with great facilities. Well kept and spacious within 15 minutes of the coast. We would highly recommend.
We booked Little Nye alongside the main house Nye Creek. It was perfect extra space with easy access to the garden / hot tub / dining. Worth knowing that it is very close to the main house if you are booking separately. The bathroom for the main house is directly above Little Nye’s bedroom. Running showers and flushing toilets are quite loud. The bed in Little Nye is quite low and the bed is very firm. Very comfortable pillows and bedding. As a self-contained space, Little Nye has everything you need. Perfect location for the forest and the coast.
Fantastic location for exploring the local area and visiting New Forest, Isle of Wight and Milford on Sea. Beautiful area and great for bird watching. House was lovely and had everything you needed. Really nice garden too.
Ridge Cottage is perfect . A beautiful house, beautifully furnished and well equipped. The hot tub, table tennis table and exercise equipment kept everyone entertained. The house is in an excellent location, with the New Forest on the door step and the beach close by. We would love to return one day .
Very comfortable and clean. In a great location. Everything you need is provided. Bed very comfortable, nice spacious room. Bathroom excellent. Sofa is not very comfortable and the photos are a little misleading with regards to how big the lounge and kitchen spaces are. I don’t really think the property would really be suitable for 4 adults. This applies to the garden space too. Could do with a clothes line as there is no other means of drying any washing. Parking space is a little tight for a large vehicle. The Gun pub, next door, is excellent and Milford village has all you need, including a...more
Our stay at Nye Creek in Keyhaven was nothing short of perfect for our extended-family stay. Tucked away in one of the most picturesque and peaceful corners of the south coast, this property is a true hidden gem. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The house is beautifully decorated - stylish yet cosy, with thoughtful touches throughout that make a real difference. The views are simply stunning. Waking up to the sight of the creek and the soft light over the marshes was magical, and the sunsets from the garden were breathtaking. It’s an ideal spot for anyone who loves na...more
This was just right for our family group. Well-equipped. Well placed for short, level walks by the elderly and infirm but with longer options for the younger and fitter. However, my son-in-law, who is somewhat disabled , and I, age 92, had some accessibility problems particularly with the staircase. The handrail is too wide to be held securely. It would help to have an additional second handrail of a smaller diameter which could be fully grasped. It would also help if one of the upstairs toilets was adjacent to a wall to which a grab rail could be fixed, to help with sitting and standing...more
Oceans Reach is a superb house in a great location for both the cliff/beach and the shops - both mere minutes away. Check out Bakehouse 24 for awesome coffee, bread, cakes and lovely staff. The holiday house was a real treat - ideally suited to larger groups or families. Southbourne is not a classic seaside neighbourhood so jot too busy and hectic and has a chilled vibe - the sandy beach is a delight. And you're close to many other nice areas and the forest. NFE office team very helpful.
Ashdale Cottage is perfect for a summer holiday. The pool and the garden are lovely - beautiful outlook to trees and fields (with ponies!) Walks over the heathland and forest are just the other side of the road (also with ponies!) Great not to have to get in the car to experience this. We used the barbecue every evening for cooking and ate outside. There is excellent shade under the beautiful willow tree. Our three generation family had a very enjoyable week. New Forest Escapes responded speedily and efficiently to the few issues we had.
We had a wonderful stay at Gins Barn. The peaceful location by the Solent made for a truly relaxing break, and the interior decorated in a cosy country style with distinctive artwork added charm and character. It was ideal for our multigenerational group of four adults and one child. A couple of small touches could further elevate the experience: the outdoor furniture is quite weathered and could do with replacing, and the courtyard garden would benefit from some maintenance. Highlights of our stay included enjoying the grass tennis court, crabbing off the jetty, and visits from the frie...more
We were a family of 10 ... 5 adults and 5 teenagers. The layout of this high spec, high quality house is spacious and the combination of rooms suited us perfectly. The house provided many family card/board games for down times ...not that there were many of these as we were blessed with good weather and the house is ideally suited as a base from which to motor out. In addition to good local walks there's a family pub just down the road ... what's not to like ..!!!
A beautiful house and gardens well positioned in the New Forest. Everything you needed was supplied and of premium quality.
Rowes Cottage is a peaceful well situated home from which to explore this beautiful area, or just relax in the quiet garden. My daughter was very grateful to gain permission to play the piano in the cottage. To make the place perfect and gain 5 stars all round, a blind or something on the kitchen windows to keep out the afternoon/evening sun and a shelf for toiletries in the shower would be great. Thank you
We were two parts of an extended family, with four adults and five children. Two Sides Cottage was absolutely perfect. It was clean, well equipped and comfortable, but in a homely way and not so pristine that we worried every time the children dropped something on the floor. We loved the quaint layout, the garden was large and ideal for a lazy afternoon barbecuing and playing badminton, and we found plenty to do in the local area. New Forest Escapes were absolutely great to deal with and we really appreciated the personal service, with phone calls to check everything was OK (and to warn ...more
Such a lovely house in a great position. Fabulous family kitchen and living areas. Open and inviting kitchen with great facilities. Comfortable beds and very clean. Highly recommend.
A comfortable, well equipped and clean thatched cottage in a lovely setting. Nice enclosed garden, perfect for a dog. Highly recommendable.
No 24 has everything you need to make your stay in a beautiful part of the world perfect: Spacious, stylish, and close to anything and everything you'd want to do. We've stayed at No 24 twice now and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else!
Had a really lovely few days away on a family getaway at The Deer Lodge. The house was exceptionally well equipped, very comfortable and felt very homely. We loved relaxing the garden area and made use of the pool, jacuzzi, gym and games room. Everything was well thought through. The Deer Lodge is also in a great location for not only Lymington but exploring the New Forest and Dorset coastline.
The cottage was a perfect location to explore the new Forest. Parking facilities excellent and easy access to the Forest and coastal areas . The cottage has been tastefully modernised whilst maintaining its lovely character. Would definitely recommend to friends
The swimming pool was a lovely size in a lovely garden. We struggled with the downstairs bathroom shower which was low pressure and sometimes the power ceased altogether in the upstairs bathroom. There was an unsightly staining on the ceiling above the upstairs shower. There were not enough cereal bowls and dessert spoons for the 8 of us. The dishwasher filter was very dirty. The mugs on the shelf had unsightly tea stains which we had to hand wash to get clean. Generally felt that the bedroom curtains were rather dated and didn’t have blackout linings. It was very bright in the morning. The...more
Great location with plenty of parking on the driveway and opposite, within easy reach of the Isle of Wight ferry. We loved the house the upside down living set up works so well, upstairs is such a big social space with the well equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge. The outside space works really well, loved the hot tub and little details like extra towels for guests use. It was a great base for exploring, so near to the sea and the forest with good local amenities.
A nice comfortable house, let down by being near to a main road - so some traffic noise in the garden. The shower is a stand in the bath type, which is fine, but not suitable for the elderly, as the bath sides are high. House needs some maintenance e.g. garden door has holes and is rotten in places. Nice area - easy to get to beaches etc. We had a good stay.
We enjoyed our stay and the cottage is well equipped and in a great location. Only negative the bedding had dog hairs and a few stains so wasn’t as clean as expected.
Amazing location for sea wall walks, town centre, and breakfast baps at The Haven Bar & Restaurant. The Boat Shed is similar to a Shepherd’s Hut although larger living area but small gap to get into shower, breathe in!
A beautiful mews style flat, right in the heart of the new Forrest, with open woodland immediately outside your front gate. No need to drive anywhere. The mews has a great feeling about it with a modern / rustic charm. Lots of details you may otherwise not get in a holiday cottage - the Nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods, wine in the fridge and even biscuits. Not to mention tea bags. These small touches made us feel very spoiled and cared for. The garden is enclosed so we could relax knowing our dog couldn’t escape. The only small gripe was we did find it cold early mornings and eveni...more
